Recently had a powdercoat at Armoutex and of course it is immaculate - The photos as usual do not do It justice, It looks amazing in the sun. I had planned to re-apply decals but never got round to it and ran out of money.

[edit] Frame and original Fork (threaded steerer) - I can supply the old tange headset to go with it (you'll have to fit it) - £310 ONO

There are some lovely details on the frame - around the bb, especially.

  • Nice frame but whoever buys definitely needs to reapply those decals

  • Shame it's a bit slower now it's not red any more...

  • Guides for gear cables on the bb?

  • Yes? An oddity I Know. I never found any information online about the frame or the builder? Neither did the original owner.

  • Cable guides on the BB shell of a steel track frame are quite normal. Road frames were a lot more common so had better quality shells than specific 'track' versions, also practically builders would have had more to hand.

  • fancy selling the Chris King separately?

  • Yep id be up for that CK HS as well

  • It's now difficult recognising it.

  • Mate I still love that frame as
    previous did on original thread.

How much has it set you back
total? I recall around £250 on
    original thread?

Also didn't it claim at having
    Velo history. Manchester?

    731os (Race?) Reynolds very nice!

  • Apparently it was ridden at Manchester but any claims were so vague I didn't think it was worth mentioning tbh. I bought it for 380 with a corima front wheel and spent 120 on the paint job at armourex.

  • Would like to see if anyone takes the frame with headset before I remove it - In a few days I'll answer any messages concerning that.

    Thanks for your interest all

  • Please don't separate frame and fork if you can! :-(

  • I do hope someone takes both frame and fork but money is that tight right now

  • This is super nice. Frame, fork and headset was advertised at £240, not sure the new paint job is an improvement... https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/291278/#comment13176132

However GLWS, really, really like this.

  • Regardless of all your opinions on whether or not the paint job is an improvement or not, the previous paint job had quite a bit of chipping and inconsistency, the decals were pretty horrible up close etc etc. At least now, you have a frame thats protected from rusting, the bb has been cleaned up and the track ends tidied. I've amended the pricing so its clear people can message me offers under the advertised price and I reckon adding 70 quid for a good quality Powdercoat isn't bad, and realistically it'll probably go for less so not a bad deal i'd say?

  • Hey sascha that's all good I
    reckon you've defo sorted it
the paint as you've said was
    probably tired out needing
    renovations.

Yes it's likely it had history
    with Velo Manchester, or some
    Velo history.

New price is looking good as
well. It's a true one of kind
    frame, very unusual, nice item.

  • Nice poem.

  • Just for info, if it's a Riva Sport frame (they allows just had "Riva" decals, unless v early which this isn't) then they were built in Macclesfield….not that far from the velodrome!

  • Thanks for the info. Have you seen any other examples?

  • I've seen loads in my youth - they were quite popular amongst club mates in the 80's (I live in Cheshire, not that far from Macclesfield) - a friend of mine still has his original track bike (about 1982) in his loft! They were very much a "local" builder - I can't imagine they sold many outside of Cheshire/NW

I had one (road frame), again in the early 80's - it was 531 with lovely filed lugs - I snapped it twice (headlug and rear dropouts - I broke a lot of frames when I was younger/more powerful!) - it was skipped in the end.

Can't think of any I've seen recently though…..but they are nice frames

  • price drop - 270 ONO

  • Price drop - 260 ONO

  • I have a RIVA (currently for sale https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115470881612?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=xAMuzaPIRUS&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=xAMuzaPIRUS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=Copy)

They're apparently very rare and the components can be pretty hi-spec (as they were with mine).

There's another on Ebay as well.... Beautiful bikes. If you sold or split it up you're missing out.
