So, this morning at 9.00am, I went along to the very first 1hr drop in session at the LV velodrome and, lo and behold, I was the only person there!
£8 and I basically got to have a go at 'the hour' in the fastest velodrome in the world.
Much as it was fun to have the place to myself and I felt like (an older, fatter and slower) Bradley Wiggins, I am posting this to try and drum up some riders for these sessions otherwise they will get closed. We are very lucky having this fantastic facility open to us, so let's not waste it. You only need to have passed your level 2 accreditation....which frankly isn't that difficult, so get down to the rubbish website and get booking and let's fill them up. There are also some 2hr skills sessions available for level 2's now too.
Very grainy pics below as proof:
Booked for next monday if anyones about
I am there on tuesday and wednesday. Can't make monday slot I am afraid.
Cheers for the heads up.
Can't seem to be able to book this. Also is there a timetable for slots?
You can book these sessions if you have passed your level 2 accreditation. When you sign in, it automatically detects what levels you have completed/ passed and then opens the relevant options/ timetable for you.
The drop in sessions are found here:
And the skill sessions (2 hours) here:
p.s you can only book a level 2 test once you have completed the level 1 'taster'.
I think our freelancing friends or those who don't have to be in an office at that time might benefit from them. I wonder is @Straydog kept waiting for someone to join the track?
This seems pretty cool. I did the intro thing but couldn't be arsed taking the next level as I've no desire to race. Might go for a number 2 now.
Hope these are still going well.
There's 4 similar 1hr sessions a week in mcr that are proving popular at the moment.
Still a bit quiet here tbh...sometimes no one, sometimes 4 or 5. Times (mostly weekday mornings) probably don't help. Skills sessions are definitely more popular though.
