Good job for the money. Now you just need to level the bars.

As @Sumo says, your bars look angled up a little, and your brifters are a lottle too far up the curve of the bar.
If your brifters feel comfy up there, it's because your stem is too long/low. Swapping the stem and moving the brifters forwards about an inch will make them easier to reach on the drops without creating too much of a bump between the flats and the rubber.

I don't think the hoods need to move on the bars, just the bars be rotated down.

great job! the purple works really well i reckon, as does the white cables. don't think there should be any regrets about splooshing on new forks.

Cheers folks. I've not ridden it yet, so i'll adjust the bars accordingly. Will get a pair of shoes and cleats, and then i'll probably have a pop at the hour record next week over lunch.
Also, the Ribble decals aren't underneath any lacquer, so they're probably going to be removed.

Great job! I'd vote remove the planet x logos rather than the Ribble.....Ribble alloy frames have a bit of a cult appeal (in my opinion!)

Really? The Planet X logos are under the clear coat. :/

Just get some of these and be done with it

Fuck. When under load the chain slips from the large to the small ring. Thinking that maybe the large ring is worn? It doesn't slip when on the small ring.
Anyone selling a black 1o5 crankset, cheap?

Pic of chainset/teeth/derailleur? And have you checked chain wear and front derailleur adjustment? Are the cranks flexing at all, as in not tightened properly causing the chain to slip? Check some of these things before rushing out to get a new chainset!

this. I reckon its fd adjustment

Yup. I've swapped out the crankset for a friend's and it fixes the problem. Even with my crankset and no front mech it still slips.
It's also a brand new chain.

I've stuck a brand new chain ring on the bike, although it's a 52t not 53t, and it works a treat. Sadly, it was £26, so the budget is well and truly blown.
I could have perhaps done this for less than £250 if i'd A: Paid more attention, and B: Had a fucking decent bit of knowledge about road bikes.
Thanks to everyone in here for your help.

Compared to the usual cost inflation on my builds that's really impressive.
There is always a problem that one doesn't expect!

Brilliant job and end result. Still a bargain despite the forks. Hope you have great times together (or it just does you a solid getting from A-B).
