• For sale I have a beaterish track crankset. On the drive side is the fairly rare campagnolo record pista non-fluted crank, 165mm, threads are all good, logo has faded but is still there. On the NDS I found a old Sugino road crank, again 165mm and threads are good. I had the combo up and running on a sugino 75bb to give you an idea of the axle length you need.

If you do actually have the cash to splash, Campyold has the exact matching NDS pista crank in NOS condition for £90.

The perfect crankset for pictures as the online world will never know that the cranks don't match. Fool them into believing you have the cash to splash on one of the nicest cranksets of all time.

Looking for £55 which is under what I paid for both arms.

    Pics coming shortly.

Collection from N1 or I can meet in Central. Not keen to post but I can.

    Cheers

  • Pics. Chainring and bolts not included in the price but I could sell them for extra.

  • I was looking for a pair of these for my Falcon Track Bike project and did a fair amount of research on them. Hate to tell you this but it seems like your example is also suffering from the typical SR crankset design failure. The sharp edges at the intersection of the crank arm and the spider are subject to a large amount of stress and are prone to developing hairline fractures. I bought a pair of SR strada cranks the other day and they have the same Problem :/ As iconic as it is, it is a rather shitty design. If detected early enough, you can file it smooth so as to lower the stress at this point.

the fracture on my strada cranks is even larger:

  • I investigated further and the mark that was there had vanish once I rubbed it with a cloth. I think it was just some dirt which had filled a scratch thankfully. I've looked carefully and I can't see any crack in that area

  • Nice, you were lucky this time! Usually it's the other way around, people think it's just some dirt and then it turns out to be a fracture! Glad to hear that's not the case here :)

  • if @haveo did not crack it while riding, it is intact. it was mine originally and i was aware of the issue, so checked it thoroughly before the sale. might be worth filing it before anything bad happens..

  • Just to be clear, I wasn't trying to allege any bad intentions. Just read a lot about it and whitnessed the problem first hand with my strada cranks :( filing it will help to relieve the stress but the problem is that you destroy the anodization in the process. It's probably best to check regularly and as soon as a fracture is developing file it smooth.

  • yes i know - i think it's a good thing you brought this up as many may not know about this. in this particular case i think the anodizing is not worth saving though :)
