  • Twitter has placed a public interest notice on a tweet from President Trump for breaking the platform’s rules about the “glorification of violence.” However, Twitter has not chosen to remove the tweet from its platform entirely, because it believes it to be in the public interest. Twitter announced the notice in a tweet thread from its official comms account.

Trump is intentionally or inadvertently quoting former Miami Police Chief Walter Headley. In December 1967, a few months after riots broke out during the Republican National Convention, Headley said “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” at the announcement of a new “get tough” policy for policing black neighborhoods. Headley promised to use shotguns, dogs, and aggressive “stop and frisk” tactics in a bid to reduce crime. “We don’t mind being accused of police brutality,” the New York Times reported him saying at the time. “They haven’t seen anything yet.”

  • every day they reach a new low, incredible

  • standard establishment response that values the protection of property over people expressing righteous anger at a fucked system that poses an existential threat to huge swathes of the populace who are guilty of the crime of not being white.

  • CNN reporter arrested:

    WTF is happening to America?

  • Wow.

Never mind creeping, it feels like the fascism is fucking galloping.

  • Trump playing to his white supremacist base, as has become normal. Odds of him losing the election and then refusing to acknowledge the result seem to be approaching 100%.

  • Just watched the arrest. Like from a movie. Harrowing.

  • Cue the coup... 😬

  • Can you imagine him standing on the steps of the White House, welcoming the Biden's in? I can't.

  • I dont think there is any chance that Biden will beat Trump in the November election.

  • Sadly not. Think the democrats have fucked it up again

  • It's impressive how consistent he is;

  • Kentucky police, disgusted with namby pamby arresting of reporters, have just shot one instead.

  • Live round or pepper ball rubber bullet thing. Things getting crazy in places. How many cities have riots??? I can't keep up

  • Pepper ball. Footage is unbelievable - seeing the cops firing at a white person.

  • unbelievable - seeing the cops firing at a white person

What a world we live in.

  • The videos on @breaking911 twitter make things look pretty out of control

  • Secret service getting a fucking pummelling outside the White House. Jeebus.

  • The report says Mr Chauvin had his knee on Mr Floyd's neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds - almost three minutes of which was after Mr Floyd became non-responsive.

Nearly two minutes before he removed his knee the other officers checked Mr Floyd's right wrist for a pulse and were unable to find one.

The Minnesota police handbook states that officers trained on how to compress a detainee's neck without applying direct pressure to the airway can use a knee under its use-of-force policy. This is regarded as a non-deadly-force option.

    What the actual fuck?!

The full report by the county medical examiner has not been released, but the complaint states that the post-mortem examination did not find evidence of "traumatic asphyxia or strangulation".

The medical examiner noted Mr Floyd had underlying heart conditions and the combination of these, "potential intoxicants in his system" and being restrained by the officers "likely contributed to his death".

InB4 the medical report states that he wasn't strangled.

  • Piers Morgan is tweeting Killer Mike’s speech, this is not a drill.

  • I actually fear for Killer Mike after that speech. Some right wing lunatic is gonna try and take him out. Some Americans don’t like eloquent black people. Or as the president says, shut up and dribble.

  • Crikey, that’s powerful. I hope this leads to genuine systemic change, but ‘Muricans gon’ ‘Murica.

  • This is all good for trump, distracts, fires up the base, disenfranchises his opponents.
