  • I've been doing intervals anti-clockwise round the 2.7km Loop Road in the Olympic Park. Apart from the odd truck or builders van it's empty of traffic, good surface and only four sets of lights.

    https://www.strava.com/segments/10444916?filter=overall

It's half closed until March the 9th due to road works but closures and works can be checked here.

I've only done it in the middle of the week / day but I imagine that as it's only used for site access it'll be devoid of traffic at the weekend and evenings.

  • Weekends aren't as clear as you'd think, a lot of through traffic it seems.

I've been riding it regularly for the past couple of months, mornings 5.30-7.30 are almost deserted though. All lights are ignored, only once have I met someone coming through that underpass bit as I jump the red, just hold the line left and it's fine. Dat headwind though...

  • Nice. I'll have to try this. I think I have been around the road track by the velodrome more than a trillion times now. If I can't get to sleep I do imaginary laps.

  • Need to get on it. I'm outside the top ten!
Still faster than you though @dbr

  • Oof, one second off.

  • Olympic Park CCW 10m TT is the most brutal segment there. Managed to get 2nd, will never get 1st as Buster is a machine...

  • Strong work!

  • Disclaimer - dry heaving at the end...

  • Aloha,

Just come back from a few loops myself. Probably like on the 50th page on Strava.

  • So the road is open again!? Nice. Heading there tomorrow night.

  • Don't think so from what I saw yesterday, but I could ride on the pavement.

  • Unfortunately no. But as you travel on the hackney wick side, there is a right turn that goes up on the greenway. Travel along that for a bit and then you'll get back on the loop again.

  • Thanks for the heads up. Probably not gonna be weaving around the Greenway on aerobars fixed. Back to the velodrome road circuit I guess.

  • Yeah,

I feel like with that, your directions are limited to "full speed ahead"?

  • Hello All Olympic Loopers,

I regularly like to do little 10 mile loops during the week. So if anyone would like to look good by lapping me then please join in! There is one section that has been closed off but as I said before, if you hit the greenway for a bit, it's still a nice varied loop. There's probably one section where you don't want to jump a red after a descent, but otherwise it's a great place to do some hula-hooping.

  • They've changed the page on the website @dbr linked to so it doesn't tell you now if the road's open or not. I tried to go on Sunday evening, it was shut.

  • @Fox - @dbr is in Morocco till Sun, but keep me in the loop.

  • Bah-doom-tsh

Anyone got eyes on this lately? I'd like to go out tomorrow morning.

  • Just called them, apparently it's still closed, they didn't know when the works are scheduled to finish.

  • Sound just like my builders.

  • Anyone know if this has re opened yet? Thinking a few lunchtime laps....

  • I'd like to go out tomorrow too. If you go please let us know if it's open again.

I've been going, checking, and if it's closed heading to the road track by the velodrome.

  • Closed and not rideable....just did a semi circle in the sunshine. Nice but not really training material

  • Bummer, thanks for the update though.

  • Still closed as of tonight (14th April).
