Is this the funny wavy splined one? I've managed with wrenches and a rag to protect.

I thought they were designed so there were actually flats on the splines that let you use conventional headset spanners - certainly I've adjusted mine with normal spanners (but then I suppose mine is cosmetically shagged anyway, so I'm not that fussed about any risk of marking it).
