The front mech on my AXS group is probably the best front mech I’ve had on any bike. Has never dropped or failed to shift cleanly.
SRAM Red mechanical FD’s however...

I have SRAM red mechanical and is brilliant. It only takes extra fettling to get it right. Got plenty of costumers and even colleagues booking a service because they clearly couldn't make it work, but once it's done it just works, no stupid trimming involved.
In fact setting up the AXS FD is pretty much the same, it just shifts nicer. -

It’s worked ok maybe 50% of the time I’ve had it. Then mid ride it will all of the sudden start only shifting at certain positions on the rear block, or failing to shift without 5 attempts.
I’ve spent a fair bit of time trying to get it right, I’ve also taken it to a well regarded mechanic and they’ve failed to get it right (same problem one ride later). It’s the only FD I’ve ever had any real problems with.

Everyone knows SRAM FDs are shit. It's why they push 1X
-

That’s true, it also only need the Eagle 12 speed stuff which mean I don’t need to get the AXS flat top chain, cassette, chainring etc. Just a standard MTB cassette/chain.
TBH the AXS front derailleur is great, I have a feeling this varies on the frames than anything (like Shimano front derailleur).

Anyone know what the sizing of the Fairlight Strael is like? Between sizes and the recommendation is for a 54 but I don’t want it to ride like a long plank of wood

The 110mm front wheel is also going to limit dynamo hub choices too.
Both SP and Son make 110 dynamos.

no stupid trimming involved.
Last time I had a bike with a FD I cabled it without a barrel adjuster, admittedly it took a while to get to the right tension but it never needed adjusting.

• #15872
38mm is two track tyres.
Side by side.
Yes.

Finally got the Rondo and had a debut ride yesterday... weird going back to mechanical shifting and big tyres but the ride was more comfortable than my road bike... I found myself riding over potholes, instead of round them :)
