What's the feeling about the SRAM Rival/Apex for gravel. Is it holding up better than GRX?

Mud's pretty rare in central Australia, but not unheard of. If it does rain in the Outback, it turns into peanut butter hell.

Grr Saguro out of stock and has held up my order for 2 fucking weeks. Finally removed it but now need to look again for a tyre. Might just get a WTB Sendero. No no no I want wider.

you need a bike that clears 29x2.25-2.4 comfortably as those tyres are widely available

Yeah, I want a hardtail but that's a whole other project that I've no time for right now.

I have a wheel sitting here with a 2.1 on it that could roll but I don't want a sidewall blow out on the first ride if it does get rubby. If these dickheads had proper stock levels I'd have had the tyre on the wheel weeks ago. I still want something bigger than 47mm if possible.
