Thanks all. I have spent some time looking into this. Just wanted to ask...
Leaning towards the bombtrack audax.
Probably the frameset and not the complete.
This being the dream bike at the moment i guess its as close ill ever get.
2019 Vitus substance V2 gravel on sale at wiggle
I went for the ergomax in the end, looking forward to giving them a spin.
(Please ignore weird bar wrapping direction, I always seem to mess it up)
Looks very nice also!
Bar wrap direction is personal preference. Depending on which way you twist when you climb it can be right or wrong for you.
the drops are the same direction but I always seem to get confused at the hoods so I have one side going one way and the other side the other, I somehow manage this about 75% of the times I wrap bars
Is it possible to fit a 15mm thruaxle hub on a 12mm Surly midnight special fork?
Axle shim or change the end caps on the hub?
That sounds doable. Would they need to be specific to the hub? I’m thinking SON or SP dynamo. Can’t see 15 to 12 end caps made by them.
To clarify, I think I may need to switch between carbon and steel forks for touring, so would like one hub to fit 15mm carbon and 12mm steel forks.
Bombtrack Audax 2020 seems awesome on paper !
As far as I know neither SON nor SP do 15mm to 12mm end caps for conversion only a QR converter. There is a Taiwanese company making a dynamo hub that looks identical to the SP that can be converted but I forget the name, check the cycling about.com article about dynamo hubs. Also why not just go for a 12mm axle carbon fork?
Edit: The dynamo hub is made by K-T although there doesn’t seem to be many reviews out there yet.
I think the aluminium one looks good also. It's even cheaper and ligther than the steel one.
Agreed. The only negative thing being the name bombtrack...
Another funky radical bombtrack?
I have put down a deposit on a thru-axle Bivio, after only about 2 years of prevarication over which frame to get...
I’d be interested in your thoughts on it when you get it. I really like the look of it and have my eye on getting one.
Why did you give up on riser conversion? I’m planning the same, just looking for some cheap mtb hydraulic brakes. I love that awol
Already got a nice functional group with hydro sti levers etc!
This bike doesn’t get ridden all that much atm either.
Anyone looking for a kick ass set of 650b gravel wheels and tubeless tyres?
