Had this a year now and am finally happy with it. Started off as a shady ebay find with the rusty dregs of a once fine build still clinging to it...its paint is a little dated but its a solid and very light frame. Havn't seen many of these around so it was a delight to give it another lease of life. Over the last 12 months its had a full strip down and a sprinkling of various parts fitted to it. Im travelling around europe at the moment, so its my transport when I'm not driving. Tarmac, gravel, tracks...its kind of a commuter/cyclocross/hybrid thing, either way it works and is really fun to ride.
531 competition tubing, all Dura-ace 7400 apart from 105 brakes/koolstop dura's, wipperman conex chain and smaller TA chainrings with a HG50 cassette. 36H Mavic CD rims, Panaracer Pasela 28's and SKS Road mudgaurds. Nitto Jitensha bars, Fl750 levers, ODI ruffians, Chris King headset and a Salsa Quill stem from the US. Thomson seatpost, Team Pro saddle and a campag seatpin.
I think thats everything. When I was in London it had Time Atac XC's...but at the moment its wielding a set of MKS MT-FT's as they are more convenient for travelling. Plus they are super lightweight and solid to ride with...Im pleasantly surprised by their build quality too.
Will post some further photos at some point and maybe a few of my previous builds. Have been lurking around on here since 2010 so would be good to share some images!
proper frankenbike! love how the parts mismatch, but still make a sensible bike.
