Tired of always pedalling? Fixie fine for around town but find yourself wanting gears for longer, hillier rides? This hub and hanger tug will allow you to convert your fixie to 5 speed derailleur set up with no brazing, welding or setting of the frame. A completely reversible, diy job.
Maillard hub with 120mm OLN spacing suitable for 5 speed freewheel (6, 7 and more speed freewheels may fit but you might need to respace the axle etc. I know a 5 speed block will fit though as this is what I had on it).
DMR hanger tug with allen key customisation. The chain tug came with a threaded rod loctited into it and used a nut to adjust. To avoid having to carry a spanner for the nut I have removed the threaded rod and replaced it with the allen bolt as pictured. This does give a restricted range of adjustment so you may need to swap the bolt for a longer/shorter one but is a far neater solution. Please note the shape of the rear of the tug, if your frame is more 13mm between bottom of axle slot and bottom of dropout you would need to do some modification to fit this. FYI it fits fine on a Pompino and also on my Principia Track Jet. I imagine it will fit the vast majority of track frames just fine but if you want to be sure then this is the important measurement.
5 speed freewheels are readily and cheaply available on ebay.
