Radial or 2x for the front when I drop them off to Arup to be built?
Personally I don't like radial lacing unless the rear is half radial a la smallfurrys carbón/tune wheelset. It always looks off. But even if you do, 6pt sub24h rule is a good one imo.

^ Rear should be radial nds, 2 cross ds for maximum fancypants.

I have hope on shallow carbon. 28, 28 though. 2x front of course. Rear is 2x 1x.
I'd recommend similar although I can't remember why I chose to do the rear exactly that way... -

moar build shhhhh

Clearly a man of taste! Might give the radial on the nds a go then.

Ok, you'll be pleased to know I spent my remaining £20.00 Evans voucher on a 6800 front derailleur. Christmas has rendered me broke for the next few weeks. Really looking forward to giving 11 speed a go #lateadopter

I'm very palatable. I'd find you a photo if I wasn't on the phone. It's in my rossin cp thread.
I vote 2x front whatever the rear pattern(s). -

Nothing much further to report and I won't be bumping the thread every time a small drivetain part arrives, but front derailleur arrived which reminded me that Shimano are the most unenvironmentally friendly company out there with the sheer amount of packaging that comes with a parts. I mean really, it's a fucking tiny part! The sheer amount of packaging for a whole groupset is mind blowing.

I have a pair of these lovely Donhou barrel adjusters on my AL264 and would like to put a pair on this KG121 also. Problem is, the adjusters just screwed straight into the head tube on the AL264 and this KG121 needs STI cable stops. Would I be able to unscrew the plastic barrels from the below Shimano items and replace them with the Donhou items or have I mistunderstood how the Shimano items are constructed?
-
• #88
i do not understand your question.
-
• #89
oh... depends on the threading, but theoretically yes would work.
would look stupid though because under the plastic is some unsightly bumpy business aimed at preventing spontaneous maladjustment.
my 2 cents.

you can find nice barrel adjusters which are fully machined. look on the bay. they are pretty pimp.

Nothing much to report unfortunately.
Christmas has cleaned me out and have vowed not to spend money I don't have on the credit card.
I now have all of the groupset minus the shifters as I took advantage of some cracking deals online over Christmas.
Aiming to have it finished by July when we're heading back to Bagnères-de-Bigorre to hit the rest of the cols be missed last time . Just discovered flights into Toulouse are only £30 more expensive to fly business class so might end up taking both! -

Ordered some 24/28H 30mm x 23mm clincher rims from Far Sports this morning. Will drop them off to the forum's wheel builder of choice, @Arup, to be built up with cx rays when they arrive. Should be 1495g (+-20g) fully built with the RS Mono so about 100g heavier than Zip 202's at a £1600 discount! Progress!

6800 shifters arrived today. They look lovely.
I managed to get the full groupset minus the cranks for £308.00.
Just realised I still need the following. Forgotten just how many bits you need to build a fucking bike:
Spokes
Tyres
Tubes
Brake pads
Quick releases
Saddle
Bottle cages
Stem
Bars
Qrings
Pedals
CablestopsLooking at the Arundel Mandibles for cages. I've got the stainless King Iris ones on my other bike and they're a bit tight with 750ml bottles. Anyone got the mandibles and are they any good/worth the wong?
Should weigh c 7.9kg according to my calculations.
