Breaking: Vittoria Bussi breaks UCI Hour Record in @endura @drag2zero suit. Whoop!
Did she do an Obree and come back the next day?
and borrowing a helmet
Drink must've kicked in overnight!
4th Oct 18 - Mikkel Bjerg - 53.730 (not UCI sanctioned)
19 y.o and at sea level! :)
Wonder if this is wise at 19 seeing as Merckx said he was never physically the same after.
Merckx (doper) won the Giro and Vuelta the year after and then the triple the year after that. I'd say it didn't hamper his physiology. Are you sure you don't mean that he said he'd never better his Hour performance, not that he was never the same physically?
Drugs are wonderful things huh.
Nah he said it was the toughest race and he never felt the same after it. Although results prove otherwise so maybe just hyperbole to make others not try it.
Mikkel Bjerg is having a go later this year too, and I've heard rumors that HUUB wattbike (sounding like john archibald, although I did hear Dan Bigham say he could beat Bradley's distance at altitude) might have a go too.
Looks like attempt April 16th
6pm Tonight! I hope he cracks it.
Earlier than that isn't it? Or is 103min just when the chit chat starts?
they say 6pm CET is when he starts which i think is 6pm UK time now the clocks have changed?
So maybe a bit of chit chat before the start?
Think its 6pm CEST, so 5pm UK
"Live in 93 minutes
16 April, 16:55"
I'm in London
Hmm odds of 5/2 for him NOT to do it seem a tad generous? Has he already cracked it in training or something (IIRC Wiggins was rumoured to have done similar)?
I can't imagine many riders doing a full 60min test beforehand so unlikely. He may be showing promise though and it's at alt so perhaps they're assuming he'll smoke it, since Wiggo's was at sea level and on a poor day.
"The handlebar extensions have been custom moulded specifically for Campenaerts' forearms"
Another Hour record bike that doesn't adhere to UCI rules in their much coveted event.
"I think if he starts, he’ll do it, because you don’t start the Hour Record unless you know you’re going to do it, because it’s so quantifiable,” Wiggins said.
But I'm guessing that's Wiggo being polite because:
"There have been nine failed attempts to better the mark set by Wiggins, with no rider coming within half a kilometre of his record."
Remembered Wiggins continually getting Campenaerts' name wrong on his podcast. He definitely knows exactly who he is.
