Our friend Kire scratched out with saddle sores.
Brendan and Jay almost half way.
The two leaders still stuck together with 400 miles to go.
A small gap now, 25 miles, as Jay has slept for four hours now and it seems Brendan hasn't stopped yet for the night.
There's always discussion about gravelbikes on the Tour Divide, that they'd be fine for the terrain for a short distance but no one has done well on one in the race. And Jay is riding the Rodeolabs gravelbike now. Though the tyres seem wide, the narrowest Mezcals maybe?
Deffo Mezcal and someone commented on his Insta: "That is CHONK for 1.9s!"
Hes on 2.1 mezcal which are 52mm. Rigid with a redshift stem. Josh K used to race fully rigid. Mike was on rigid mtb. I think 52mm rigid is just fine, but obvs no personal experiance.
think its only been Brian Lucido whose won in recent years on sus bike 2017??
anyone ridden / got a report / verdict on the redshift stem? looks in theory to be good
Yeah, no idea, I've not seen any bike build for him, just looked at Insta comments
I have one of those tyres. It didn't fit on the Tripster fork :)
A friend has one on a mason bokeh and says it's great for making it feel a little more like a mountain bike
I can't tell anyway. Old man eyes.
Looks like Jay's going to take it. 50 miles to go for him.
obligatory reminder that he's a cheater and a bellend
Yeah, I think most who follow the races know he has a chequered history. The last few races I've watched him in have gone accusation-free for what it's worth.
Lael is currently aiming to beat Mikes record. She's nearly 1000km in and ahead as it stands.
Weird. She's behind on trackleaders https://trackleaders.com/laeltd21f.php
I don't know why people obsess with stating they're going for record. Just say you'll go as fast as you can. Its less arrogant.
I'd love to break that record but would never dream of saying I feel I'm capable publically. And privately I don't think I am.
falling behind now..
She's pulled the plug.
Scratched. Wildfire smoke affecting breathing. Second video shows conditions. Doesn't look good!
