The stem is Bike Hut.
It's going in the bin.

How much for a black powdercoat at Armourtex these days? Do you think they would mask off and treat the couplings ok?
-
• #54
Stem is the only WAC thing about that Geekhouse though... yum
-
• #55
You could solve your disappointment by selling it to me :D.
The shitter a condition it's in now, the more you can personalise it and make it your own. -
• #56
Reckon you'll be ok with the coupling, give them a call if you're worried about it.

I bought a year-old Roberts 853 frame with lovely paint but found their paint chips if you look at it wrong. Might want to do some research to see if others have same experience before handing it over to them. Just my experience, YMMV (it's the blue one TM posted upthread)

that's a lovely bike pharoah-how do you like the geometry?
I've been dismantling the bike today and getting a better look at it; mech hanger threads are indeed 'fragile' as mentioned by the seller... wondering if that shouldn't be remedied better before getting new clothes, if possible?
Have emailed armourtex for a price and info-I will either go for matte black or a deep UV purple with a tinted lacquer and some custom decals. Was thinking of doing some fancy Rapha/Paul Smith-esque colour way as I love my city jacket but it's too rich for my pocket atm : /

Also, fork is 1" which is a bitch because I spunked on a 2nd hand 1 1/8 chris kringle for it. Shitter.

Thanks, I love my Roberts, definitely a keeper. The geo is incredibly comfortable. Watching this with interest, deep purple metallic is a good idea with black or silver decals. Argos painted my track frame, they aren't cheap but I have found that paint tough as old boots (to be fair, it was painted 10 years ago, I think I have read that modern paints are less durable than they used to be. No idea if there is any truth in that).

dont fancy keeping the colour split? purple and black ? i think its boss
-
• #63
nah...
it looks a bit like a circus bike or something imhop-don't want to draw too much attention to the couplers either as I might want to be locking it up sometime and someone who recognises what it's worth might be a bit more tempted.

Purple and silver is so nice. I loved this paint, not the fit so much unfortunately.
Go for it! Think i have a paint code for this somewhere in my mail box should you be interested.

Prolly had his old Geekhouse in purple/raw and it look awesome.

just looked at that, is nice indeed. still not fancying having a different coloured back end.
Armourtex are suggesting silver overlaid with a violet lacquer, sounds pretty nice, and would be about £100 all in which is doable. I think if I started asking them to mask off bands etc it would be a bit more.
I'd been planning on putting the all black veloce group I bought off of Bjorn, but if it's all purple then maybe the silver group I've got would be better, paired with my silver white industries/excellight wheelset.
Sadly looking at my Olagnero and Mercian as i'll be putting them on the bay to raise much needed capital : /

Armoutex sounds very nicely priced tbh. No wasent thinking you should be painting a silver rear end either paint just happen to be on that frame. I thought black looked pretty good against purple.

It's a really nice shade of purple but looks quite dark, though hard to tell from pics.
I was thinking something more like this, really deep UV purple:
I'm also thinking that some nice vinyls over will add a bit more interest and be cheaper. Still not sure if a ninja-esque flat black wouldn't be better...

Black is always black.. That purple there is quite in your face, id grow tired of it after a week but you may not :) Yeah the if was quite dark and subtle which i liked.

Nice build, subbed.
I'd go dark green metallic with matt black or dark purple decals, maybe a thin white lining around em.

Great frame- I am envious.
And- Cinelli laser blue or GTFO

been in discussion with Armourtex about the colour. They are suggesting silver base with a violet/purple lacquer, sounds like it will be really bright?
Difficult to describe over email too. Not sure how bothered I am anyway-am i doing it wrong?
Anything is a step up from the paint atm-I've also got enough real world shit to be dealing with that I'm not too het up about it. I think darker but quite vivid purple, black group and black rims will do nicely, and hope to get some reflective silver 'Grüber' decals made to put on the down tube, possibly with some kind of obscene head badge logo.

Wouldnt go too bright indeed and what you discribe sounds good, though personally not a big fan of silver decals it might just hit the spot.

• #74
This is fascinating. Subbed.

I had a wobble last night and suddenly thought of getting it done in Basso Lotto/Collstrop colours, like so:
But then I remembered I've just moved back to a city where if you wear anything green and white you will automatically alienate half of the population and invite quite violent scrutiny to your movements, so probably not the best choice. Plus I'd rather just get my hands on a Basso frame at some point.
So this whole selling of bike swag isn't going so well : / Been trying to motivate myself to put the Olagnero on ebay and it's not happening. I know I'll regret it. I even dismantled the Denton tourer with a view of punting it, and the same feeling occurs. I hear kidneys are still achieving quite good market rates these days...

If you sincerely intend for it to be a travel bike, powdercoat would be a better option, plus, you can get the stem/spacer painted as well to get that NAHBS wankery look.
