  • OK! Let me cook up some more colourful potato chops. Want to be sure before I spend as rasta parts harder to sell than usual black and silver.

I may even put on coloured tires. shudders

  • i don't think you should go as far as coloured tires.. :)

  • Aero dreads... hahahaha
    Repped!

  • tbh. rasta with green saddle, yellow ahead, red bartape, looks great. not even bad taste although the ingredients certainly were difficult.

  • :)

Its too bad I can't place the blue from the stripes. Maybe blue bar ends or blue stitching in tape...or green saddle with blue details but needs to be right green to work.

The stripe green is a colour I've never seen in metal or leather.

  • blue miche primato crankset? would be dark enough to match the stripes runs away

  • NOOOOOOOOOOO blue metal. I've standards. Somewhere...

    ;)

Well I can always try photoshopping a blue chainring on the silver cranks, see how it looks. Due to budget constraints I may have to find another green saddle, BLB has a green flite NOS for the nice sum of £120! Ello...

  • Imo the only 'rasta' bike to have ever worked was JAh Tim's but he's an actual rasta...

But even that is understated with just hints of red gold and green, all others I've seen ended up looking full on anti.

You have a lovely frame here and it would look great with simple, high quality silver or black parts.

  • ^ yeah I saw that yesterday on Google looking for inspiration. Urgh.

I want to stick to mostly silver and really only add colour to bar tape/saddle/stem otherwise it's definitely going to be Too Much. Anodising I don't think works on a yellow frame, the colours are just not quite right.

The issue with using colours is that if they clash you go right to anti, don't collect 20.000. Hence the pototochops. But at the same time I think it would be nice if the 3 stripe colours return in some parts.

Tricky for sure! But I haven't bought anything yet, there's time to prevent the next Pengy :P

  • my 2p again...;)

    no anodized blue. nevah.
maybe one half of the handlebars red the other blue?

thing is, if we're trying this hard, itll possibly look like its trying to hard..

  • but seriously, just go classic silver on parts. Vintage Campag pista or Sugino gran mighty cranks, the nice silver wheels, silver stem, silver post, black saddle and tape. (or maybe white saddle and pelten shade tape)

  • I've a pair of Sugino Messenger cranks. I fear that will have to do for now due to the price of Campag pista./Dura Ace. Wheels are Miche Primato early 2000s.

I do like the idea of red bar tape as decals and pantos are red.

  • I have these which I need to sell, I've just replaced with something slightly more modern and Campag...

not very expensive, would look great on that build.

  • Those would look great!

  • Not sure I want fluted cranks... I will photoshop em on and see how it works :)

More pototochops...silver/black tape and silver/red tape. What do you think of the photoshopping? Do you like seeing that method in a projects thread?

For me it's to be able to experiment before nailing down the shopping list. As of course black/silver is always safer, but by that notion everybody has to play it safe.

I think this is one of the few rasta frames that looks decent imo. All black parts would look gooood. Shame its not tarck though. Anyways, conversion thread>>>>>

I think coloured bartape could deff look good, my eyes seem to agree with the pink version rather than the black saddle/tape.

  • T'is a proper track frame despite the generous clearances. But brakeless er...no thanks I value my teeth too many near misses due to blind motorists already ;)

I've an all black photoshop but people didn't like it. Maybe wrong black parts. It may have to be silver due to £££ as free wheels and cranks...that's at least £150 saved.

  • Woooo!

  • OK that's seat post added to shopping list. Nutjes going to look for Gazelle ahead.

  • j. its only since youre asking im looking like im a douche but tbh if you gonna go da, go 7410 non fluted. fits tubing and 90s vintage better imo

  • Turning into a speedy build - I am jealous!!

Decisions, decisions... not easy to decide. I like the black aero rims (spudshop 1 pic 2) but they are more modern. Not easy at all.

  • Hi Rodolfo nope feedback welcome: I looked at non-fluted, more time correct that's true!
But I like the fluted look. Well again all this is easily resolvable with more photoshop...maybe fluted won't work and you're right ;)

Hi Richard yeah black can work too but due to budget I decided against it...as that's another £100 and up for wheels. And the car tax/mot are coming up :S

  • It has to come down to money, as always. I saw some white components today - very lush indeed!!! No idea what bike they would suit though.

Forget about the car - it will be summer soon - LOL
