• This is fucked up. Feel so sorry for you. Group ride to italy?

  • £10 donation from me, just need another 67 users and you got your money back.

  • Thanks, hopefully it will turn up

  • If Antonio actually cared about me ever getting this bike then he would ring Italian Poste and see where it is

But once he received his money he seems to not give a shit

  • Before I'm accused of being disrepectful towards Italians, please let me say I love (most) Italians.... most everything about them.... and I have a house there, however...

My only truly bad ebay deal was through Ebay.it.. bought Chorus ergopower described as 'as new'... when they arrived, the logos were worn off the levers they were so well (badly) used.

I also ordered some goods from an Italian supplier to go to my house in Italy and paid postage up-front. Bartolino (BRT), the largest parcel delivery company in Italy, charged the person I had them delivered to €50 saying I hadn't paid up-front. It took me 6 months to get the money back. Sadly, there are a fair few Italians who are constantly on the make.

Having said all the above, most people are very reasonable and will help resolve issues. I speak Italian pretty well, and my wife is fluent, so if you have documentation you'd like us to look at 'proof of delivery notes etc?' or even make calls for you I'd be happy to.

This is too much money to lose in a scam.

Also, do you have his address? If you made a bank transfer, you certainly have details of his bank and you (or I) can make a call to them.

  • Thanks Stuart,

Basically this is the tracking site http://www.poste.it/online/dovequando/home.do

And this is the tracking number EP101498275IT

I have tired to translate it and i make it that the parcel has been delivered?

  • It does indeed say it has been delivered, though by 'delivered' it is possible it means it has been handed to UK Royal Mail/Parcelforce.

Has Antonio provided you with the shipping documentation? That is the first thing I would request. Otherwise you may be looking at a shipping serial number that has nothing to do with you (ie Antonio could have shipped a present to a friend in Edinburgh and just sent you that number)... I don't wish to accuse Antonio of corruption, but he doesn't seem to be doing much to help you.

Importantly, the shipping documentation will show destination address, contents, value.... and who to call if things go wrong!

As it is a tracked parcel, they MUST have a 'proof of delivery' document you can request.

Please feel free to call me, ping me a PM and I'll send you my phone number.

  • When I got a bike from Italy (from a totally sound LFGSS seller) it seemed to vanish for a while into a void with the Italian Post saying delivered and it not showing up with ParcelFarce So whilst Antonio seems to be a total cock it may also be that you also have two third world joke delivery systems adding to your grief. Don't give up hope yet.

  • Just so everyone is clear this is the bike

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread119732.html

Not the Carrera, I just posted on here in a hope it would hurry him up

I may be wrong but i get the feeling Antonio isn't trying to scam me just being incredibly shit at letting me know what is going on.

Enigmatic, that gives me a bit of hope, its may be in a void of going from one parcel service to another and I don't have a tracking number for the 2nd

  • Things do vanish when you send them abroad by regular post. What might have happened is that the poster used the cheapest posting option, which will be over-land and might necessitate being put aboard a boat at some stage. This can take forever - it once took 6 weeks for something fairly light and small (compared to a bike) I sent via Royal Mil to reach Stockholm, because it crossed the channel by ferry, rather than by air - things can stuck at depots as low priority items.

If this be the case then we can agree it represents pretty shabby service, but it's not so different from many of the services on offer in the UK; let's not fall into the trap of perceiving everything through our ethnocentrically British rose-tinted eyes.

  • I understand postage can be sometimes slow, its just worrying when the tracking says its been delivered

  • I just checked on Parcel force and the tracking number works and says it is delivered.
    There is also a signature?
    http://www.parcelforce.com/track-trace?trackNumber=EC104803535GB&page_type=parcel-pod

  • ^ If you recognise a neighbours signature/initials?
    Hope this helps...

  • EC104803535GB
Tracking number for the parcel with Parcel Force.
I would call parcel force. Forget Italy.

  • I understand postage can be sometimes slow, its just worrying when the tracking says its been delivered

Of course you are - and you certainly deserve greater re-assurance from the guy you've bought off that it is definitely on its way. I hope it all works out for you.

^ contacting Royal Mail/Parcelforce to ascertain the progress on a delivery can be a nightmare. However, they might at least be able to tell you that the shipment exists.

  • Shipment definitely exists as they have created a UK parcel number for the Italian shipment. If it has gone missing it is down to Parcel Force unfortunately...

  • Thanks Pete,

    One step closer, kinda

You think 'MR JONES 59' could be Mr Jones, number 59 rather than my address 57b.

Delivered it next door instead maybe

  • 1225 Wednesday to a Mr Jones. If you contact ParcelFarce and get through to your local depot they can look up the drivers GPS track and tell you were he met Mr Jones. This was the technology that was used to eventually prove the driver for my area was a lying dishonest scumbag.

  • Worth asking! Go! Check!

  • Also, are you Mr Jones?

Not to be suspicious but could Antonio have provided you with a tracking number for someone elses parcel?

  • Yeah i'm Mr Jones

  • Ok, so it sounds promising. Let us know what happens!

Still sucks that he only posted it on the 8th... Cheeky git.

  • Will do, at work at the minute and won't be back home till tomorrow

    Will keep you guys posted

  • Hey PP - Just a thought have you asked the people at #59 if they accepted a parcel for you?

  • Not yet, will do tomorrow
