Campag bar end shifters

  • Can I just fit an 8v or 9v "cog" (assuming I can get one) to modify 9v or 10v shifters (assuming I can get some)?

  • I just got some 10spd Record shifters-front is friction, rear is indexed only, so shifting will be a bit out unless yours can do friction/index both.

8 spd syncro shifters are fairly easy to come by at sane prices as everyone wants the 8spd ergos though.

  • Sorry if I didn't make myself clear: by "cog", I meant the plastic insert in the shifter that controls the indexing.

I was thinking of getting some 9v or 10v and just "downgrading" the rear derailleur shifter to 8v or 9v.

Early stages of planning next year's TT build, hence I'm undecided on 8v or 9v: it'll depend on what I can get at a decent price.

If you know where I can get some 8v shifters at a sane price, then please let me know.

i got some NOS ones for 30 quid a while back, these look complete, and if not send em back.

  • Thanks, I've sent him a message.

However, I'd still prefer bar end shifters.

  • i think i have 9sp campa bar end shifter in a box in the basement

  • and yes you can downgrade, there are different index-rings
