Yep, that's standard for TA stuff - found out myself at the last minute trying to strip down La Cycliste's Roberts ready to send it off to Mercian for repainting. A suitable tool is available from Spa Cycles at a reasonably modest price.

Cheers Dan, I managed to get them off by other, non-destructive, means.
I've since bought a Stronglight chainset ... and I see that that's going to be non-standard too, 23.35 mm.

I was about to post a similar request!
I've been driving a wedge down the back of them but don't want to damage the bb or cranks by doing it again and again. How did you manage it?

I've never worked on one of these before and it seems the thread is a good 1 or 2 mm 'bugger than standard'.
Does that sound normal? Is it a French thing?
If anyone in the East to SW1 can lend us one for a day, I will make it worth your while and might even return it.
