I have one of those Ice Tools ones and it baffles me why they didn't flatten 2 edges to fit a wrench round it. The one time I tried to use it I failed and gave up (mate's bike) but have since thought of how it could work.
If you stick a long allen key through the holes at the side, the thickest size that'll actually fit through, then put the bike on it's side and from above press down both sides of the key (with the tool in the middle), it should give you just enough grip to work. i think.
If any of the above makes sense and it works, lemme know. Thinking of getting some flats machined onto it anyway but not sure when I'll get round to it... -

Easiest way, is to clamp the tool in a vice, then press the whole frame onto it.....nice big lever, and downward force= get the fuck out BB!

that sounds like a good alternative, has anyone got a vice somewhere around e1 I could come use?

even better, bolt the tool onto the bb then clamp in a vice

also with the tool slotted in to the bb, give it a few good hits with a hammer. This in a lot of cases makes a big difference and can save those bug eyed, vein popping exertions.

hey i have both the bb with tapered surround for wrench and a metal vise that isn't bolted down, im in brixton hill,
your better off bringing your frame here unless your samson full head of hair and can lug it back to delilah,
p.s please return before haircut or you could just take the bb tool

Check my tutorial the last bit - I can also lend you the tool (ie hoover pipe, wrench and tool to hold the BB tool in place).
Cheers

that looks the exact approach I'm going to try. Realised the bolt I bought might be too wide threading though so a trip to clerkenwell screws tomorrow morning is in order. Got everything I need I think, thanks

I've got a bb cup that just wont budge, it's shimano and my crappy ice tools bb

wont let me use a bolt to hold it in place. Does anyone have one more like this one ->
and possibly a bolt that works (I can always get a bolt if not) that I could borrow to rescue this frame.
THANKS!
