  • Look at those eyebrows!

  • Elaborate!

  • Another check up at the vet today for Méabh and her skin is almost totally healed, she's allowed to take the cone off and is out of isolation! She's now 3.2kg (up from 2.9kg a month ago!) so she's getting bigger and stronger and healthier. I am very excited to reclaim my bedroom from her.

  • Did you follow the assembly instructions?

Also how can that be comfortable?

  • Takes there role seriously...

  • It is loud purring, and cute....

    Good news! 🙂

  • Enjoying cone-free life!

  • James is 16 on the 27th. Is there such a thing as a cake for cats? I think candles might be a bad idea.

  • Many happy returns to James

Our cats like cheese, so maybe a (very small) cheese cake could be an option?

  • Fierce orange boi making ours an absolute embarrassment to catkind. Had to help him out.

  • Yeah, it's bad when you have to step in on cat beefs. Like mums / dads sorting out playground fights.

    Edit: mums do beef too.

  • That's such good news. Hooray for Méabh!

  • Hahaha

  • I had to pull my cat Jaffa and a neighbour cat apart this morning whilst they were tearing chunks out of each other.

Jaffa is a big boy and from my wife's information he started it. She screamed upstairs for me whilst I was on a work call I promptly abandoned.

Ran downstairs and outside and found Jaffa pinning the other cat, yanked him up and he had tufts of fur in his claws. His breakaway collar had worked and was lying on the floor and our front lawn was covered in clumps of fur. Three Jaffa clumps to about 25 other cat tufts based on colour.

I brought him in and then had to see off neighbour cat with a mop whilst it tried to start on me. Luckily my 85 year old ex forces neighbour came out to back me up with a golf club to see the intruder off (we did not touch the cat just shooed away with implements).

Jaffa has been eating all day but subdued and with a limp, I've cleaned the small cut on his rear paw which is his only visible injury. I assume he may have sprained this paw hence the limp.

I don't know what else to do for the guy but he looks so sorry for himself!

  • Jesus, what an adventure!

  • Live update, feeling needy.

Fabric used to be a scrapper in his early days. Keep an eye out for an abscess forming. Cat bites are putrid and nasty and only take 24 hours or so to flare up.

All you can do is keep the wound clean as much as possible. I'd recommend washing it with salt water twice a day. It'll probably heal fine by itself but keep an eye out for the limp worsening.

Your experience reminded me of what it was like the first time Fabric got an abscess from a fight. At the end of the day they're pretty minor injuries but super painful. I was a new cat owner and worried out of my mind when Fabric couldn't put any weight on his foot at all. I didn't have much cash those days and was worried sick that I'd not be able to afford the vet bill . Happened on a Friday evening too so emergency vet would have been the only option.

As it happened, his abscess burst on my pillow on the Sunday night, filling my bedroom with a rotting pus smell. Healed up pretty well with salt water cleaning after that. Took him to the vet anyway for my peace of mind more than anything.

  • If that happens Nicola will NEVER get over it hahaha!

I have some vet issued wound cleaner from last round so I've used that so I hope it works.

  • I'm sure it'll be fine. While cats have nasty mouths they also have good immune systems set up for those pathogens so I'm sure it's only a minority of bites that turn nasty!

Nasty is the right word for sure...
