Broken bike ???

Posted on
  • I've been riding since September and on my last ride I attempted to skid. But when I did, the bike just let my pedals go backwards. I usually pull on my right foot when I skid, and the pedals just went back but I was still going forwards, and my rear wheel was too. Feels like its become a single speed -.- I don't know what's wrong. Has anyone else had this problem ???? And could identify what I need to get to repair it?
After I could still ride but I couldn't put much pressure on accelerating and braking. But could still go forward and resist the pedals going backwards a little bit. But no where near the pressure applied when skidding :(

  • Sounds like the rear sprocket may have come loose a little, so it's spinning in the hub thread, tighten it up and the lockring too.

  • Yeah this happened to me when I changed my rear cog and didnt tighten up the lock ring enough.

  • I just tried tightening the lock ring with my hands as much as I could, then I tried to ride it again. It jerked again -.- but my lock ring is still tight after riding?
Is there a special tool to tighten the lock ring ? Or do you guys think it's something else now ?

  • some one fliped your flip flop wheel?

need to use one of these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17920&gclid=CMOt3_-80bMCFXHLtAodGSEA6g

but if you go in to a bike shop they will probably do it for you for a couple of quid.

Haha I wish that was the case

  • Sounds like lock ring or possibly stripped threads, remember when putting the lock ring on that it is reverse threaded to turn the opposite ways to tighten and loosen.

  • Oh and Mechanics and Fixing>>>>>

Oh I think it may be stripped threads too, what would I have to do, if it is ?

  • flip-the wheel around if the threads on the other side are good.

otherwise you need a new hub. you can't do a lock-ring finger tight, that's pretty dangerous.
