Half probably and half absurd sounds like a recipe for the perfect ride, no?

I'm not ready to enter, but I think I will and then the definite target will spur me to put the practice in :p
...or is that just like people paying for the gym "so they have to use it", and then never going?

Who is going to ride it on a fixed?
Or is that everyone on here due to the forum nameQuite a few people rode it fixed last time and the Audax club love a bit of fixed gear:

Thinking hard on this.
Need a challenge, and I'm currently detraining by sitting on a beach drinking rum and getting fat.It may come down to proximity to an internet connection. Any news on what time entries open?
-

Can everyone who's 'not sure about whether they want to do it' wait until the 6th before trying to enter? By which I mean, does anyone know how quick the places are likely to go? I mean, I will be up thru the night to get my entry in so will probably be alright, but I'm still worried.
Bike-riding began on Dec 30th, 45 miles but the first 'proper' ride I've done for about 3 months, terrible headwind too. 60 miles today. #itson

I got the impression they're going to keep this under their hats until it actually happens, might have been wishful thinking on my part tho

I reckon I can pack a little less if my touring set-up anything to go.

Ed, where is that frame bag from? Look like just what I'm after for SBS.

Revelate Designs, it got a small opening for a hydro pack, or charger from the dynamo.
Eric pack the bag very small, I managed to escape custom charge when I order mine.

After I did PBP it took me around three weeks for my knee to get back to the point where I could put it under proper strain again and nearly six months before I could feel all of my fingers and toes properly. I would regularly hit fatigue barriers in the middle of easy personal rides and get into some downward spirals. Some of this may have been psychological though.
I did Quin Iron in October and am just getting some feeling back in my toes now. The psychological side is very familiar too.
Mind you, two guys from Wakefield Tri Club were out doing Helvellyn Triathlon a couple of weeks after PBP. I guess there's always someone who can push it further, faster, harder and more often than you (at least this is what the missus says BDT).
Guy and Ash, I think - they did PBP fixed too, iirc. Guy had come second in DoubleIron Lanza a few months before as well and then had a crack at Deca Iron UK, but got injured after 6 days. He's since put on about 3 stone. Good fellas.

If wikipedia is to be believed, decaIronman = 10xIronman.
How on earth is it possible to run 262 miles immediately after finishing a ride equal to LEL? And surely if you are contemplating such lunacy you have some prior experience at this kind of thing, no?
Even the concept of a ten-times distance Ironman scares me.
The format is 10x1 i.e. 1 ironman a day for 10 days. This is meant to be the harder format, as one bad day can blow your whole race. In continuous format, you can rest where you need, even take a full day off.
I did 5x1 in Mexico recently, where the heat got up to 39 degrees, and felt pretty strong at the end - even thought about asking the organisers if I could keep going for another 5 days, but had a quick word with myself and went to the beach to drink beer. 10 is feasible if I can stay fit. The only thing that scares me is what's after that - can't get my head around Double Deca, but after 10 where next can you go?

christ this is tempting but the most I've managed is the 110 miles down to Bournemouth with Braker last summer... I'm seriously doubting whether I have it in me to do 5*15 hour days...
