  • Apropos sexism (sorry)

If Victoria Pendleton's fiance, say, was being asked his opinion on everything Victoria did, and hanging around the podium for picture opportunities every time she won something, would there really be no questions asked?

  • He was her coach though.

    (or something along those lines)

Different tone I think. Not this meddling, ball crushing women in it for herself. People would probably be thinking "what a nice supportive man Victoria has".

I don't think so, tbh. I think that it's more likely that people would see him as being paternalistic and pushy, and also quite condescending. But then of course I don't know that for sure because he keeps his face out of the cameras and lets her accept her own prizes for her own hard work. That's all "ifs" and "buts", though (much like all other sports-related analysis).

  • Maybe, probably, possibly. Who knows?

  • Nobody. But let's all speculate wildly with a tone of general authority on all matters anyway. YOLO, etc.

  • I am so sick of the sexist nonsense that so many of you think is acceptable when it comes to discussing Michelle Cound. She stuck up for her fiancรฉ via social media, that's it.

So let's lay off the thinly veiled sexism.

It's both patronising and sexist of you to assume that Michelle Cound has drawn criticism because of her gender, rather than because she has spent the last year or so publicly mouthing off about her boyfriends teammates and colleagues (and their spouses) on Twitter and elsewhere.

Or have you noticed lots of the same vitriol directed towards Cath Wiggins, or Peta Todd cos, you know, they are women, and have also been 'sticking up for' their partners on Twitter.

  • Most debate on Michelle Cound is sexist, misogynistic and founded on a Lady Macbeth stereotype. Andyp and I should know:

Froome not at Giro or California either, so I guess he is transfusing as well.

    If Michelle Cound lets him.

I thought he had been cured of his problem with blood sucking parasites, but now I understand he is still with Michelle Cound.

Probably best for all of us if we knock it on the head.

We have. I can relax now.

I was going to post the same.

Also hooray for the 100th page.

You're wrong in your assertions AND MY SHOUTY CAPS PROVE IT.

  • ^^ "Do you think his pubes match?"

  • "That guy called you a cunt"

So let's lay off the thinly veiled sexism.

Considering MC ('The Cound') is also Chucky's PR and social media 'guru' this is utter wank-she's a supposed industry professional who has shat in the official Team Sky water fountain since mid-way through the last Tour and conducts a very personal campaign for her fiance in public (you call it 'sticking up for' when she's actually started a spat with the team leader's wife and aired the team's dirty laundry in public?), and in the process has alienated a section of Sky support that admire Wiggins for his commitment and hard work, not to mention his own personal sponsorship of female cycling and youth development teams.

If anything her actions have hindered Froome's natural assumption of leadership at Sky by making it into a red-top circus and seemingly helped alienate Britain's first ever TdF winner from the team.

tl:dr Saying someone's acted like a royal a dickhead doesn't equal sexism, and if it's humorously expressed, all the better.

  • if it's humorously expressed, all the better.

    Shit stirring bint.

    Lol

  • Uber haz some rep from me for that. Cound is just a twat, it has nothing to do with her gender

  • Just cos she is acting like a twat doesn't mean that some of the reactions on here are sexist or not sexist. That's a fallacy. I call fallacy on you.

  • Fallacy

  • Phallically

  • Is it sexist that my girlfriend also loathes Cound?
