Tuesday 12th June 7.30pm at Pedal MCR, The Bikehouse by the lake (covered in mural paintings), Platt Fields Park, Fallowfield, M14 6LA
We shall be joined by Levi who is coming to MCR to personally screen the film.Entry: £donation to the film makers
Drinks and vegan hotdogs and popcorn availableIn the summer of 2011, a few film students and bike lovers decided to make a documentary movie. The original idea came from Levi, a Hungarian film student, who went to Madrid for 5 months to study, and after finishing school there, he decided to go back to Budapest on his fixie bike and asked the people of Europe to join him on his way.
The journey started in July, at the European Cycle Messenger Championship, Madrid and ended at the gates of Sziget Festival, Budapest in August. Friends from film schools of Budapest, Madrid and London joined the trip to make a road-movie about the challenges and most of all the fun that Levi and the other riders had on the way to Budapest.
After a long post-productional process, the movie is finally here! The CMH crew is lucky enough to announce: not only the amazing sights and places are going to be the main feature of the movie, but the music of the world-famous Italian producer, Dusty Kid!

Tuesday 3rd July:
This Tuesday we're screening our F A V O U R I T E bike movie of all time, Breaking Away. No matter how many times you've seen it it is always amazing to watch.
Best friends Dave, Mike, Cyril and Moocher have just graduated from high school. Living in the college town of Bloomington, Indiana, they are considered "cutters": the working class of the town so named since most of the middle aged generation, such as their parents, worked at the local limestone quarry, which is now a swimming hole.
There is great animosity between the cutters and the generally wealthy Indiana University students, each group who have their own turf in town. The dichotomy is that the limestone was used to build the university, which is now seen as being too good for the locals who built it.
Although each of the four is a totally different personality from the other three, they also have in common the fact of being unfocused and unmotivated in life. The one slight exception is Dave. Although he has no job and doesn't know what to do with his life, he is a champion bicycle racer..

After 13 years I'm leaving Manchester!
Thanks to everyone that's attended an I Bike MCR event/ activity over the past 6 years (and to those that have stemmed off and created new bike communities from that, like bike polo, the spokes etc)... it's been hard work but also mega fun.
So, no more I Bike MCR events for a year (when I may return- not sure yet). Though, Critical Mass will still carry on happening every last Friday of the month at 6pm from Central Library. I shall be over for most of those. Pedal will still run without me too (though the times are about to change as we hit winter).
To say goodbye I hope you'll come along to August Critical Mass on Friday 31st August- 6pm Central Library. After which we'll have a little impromptu party at Pedal MCR in Platt Fields from 8pm-11pm with bands and DJs and stuff.
Ride safe
