I've just started to learn, if you haven't got one already I'd recommend getting an auto-dimming welding mask. Makes life much easier. They aren't that expensive on ebay.

I've got a nishiki frame with a bent downtube you can have.
Wanted to get it fixed but don't have the money and it's just sitting in my dads shop.

I do have to stress (and should have before), that I have very limited funds, so I respect if people rightfully want payment, but I may not be able to!

Thanks man. :) As I said, I've wanted to do it for a very long time and enjoy projects, so this should be pretty fun! I am also interested in carbon fiber, and been talking about trying to build a tri-spoke for a while. If you're not gonna get it repaired and have no other use for it, I'm still interested as I can possibly use it to see how the carbon fiber is layered.

Yeah, I'm definitely getting one. Have done a tiny bit of MIG in the past and a all dark mask is a pain to use! Will check ebay, cheers. I got recently introduced to this site - http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/index.php - dunno if that helps you too?

I'm interested in any frames mate, and will be much appreciated, as plan on learning as much as I can. Plus, it's all chances to learn and improve on the technique and skills.

Where are you based? As long as you don't mind that I can't really pay much for it (if at all at mo)?! I'm based in Ashford, Surrey, about a mile from J1 of the M3, but can meet people if its easier.

Sdw - Sweet! Nice one mate. Camden is probably easiest for me if thats good for you? Will try and do it same day as Geordie as I tire easy and London travel takes it out of me something rotten.
If both of you let me know what days are best I'll sort it out. Many thanks.

I do have to stress that I may not be able to reimburse you, as my funds are limited, but if its not too much, or you think I might be interested anyway, please feel free to PM me!
I'm looking to start learning the basics of frame building and welding and would be grateful for any and all donations.
I don't have my own vehicle so preferably in west half of london, within trainable distance would be useful, but can be flexible.
I am partially disabled, but able to move about fine on my good days, but it means I can't work, and so I get sick and tired of sitting on my arse with not much to do most of the time (I refuse to own a TV as a matter of principle).
Welding, and particularly frame building, is something I have wanted to try for a looong time (15yrs or more), and now I have a lot of time on my hands and an empty garage, so figure I might as well stop just talking about it, get some materials and a MIG welder (at first) and do it!
Please PM me if you can help out at all, and many thanks to those who actually read all that^! ;P
