Stop posting awesome projects with bling parts and at the same time claiming you don't have much cash to spend. All while being 16 years old. It makes me feel dissatisfied with my life.
Anyway looks like another rad bike on the way here :v

I do a fair bit of buying and selling on ebay in order to make myself some bike money so thats has taught me to be careful where I drop the cash. I have been needing a high quality weatherproof wheel set though for a while so yeh. Might use this opportunity to learn how to lace a wheel

Don't worry dibs have been noted and you are still on top

Got a sealed shimano bb today and a new pot of phil grease.
Things that I need.
Wheelset clincher. Black rim with silver spokes and hub (pref phil LF)
Sugino 75/Dura ace 7600 crankset
Good tough chain that is not as expensive as my izumi super toughDon't have too much cash to spend on this one so anyone who is ready to offer me a deal id be very grateful.
Does it have a standard British BB? Also what about the headset? East block bikes can have different standards. Worth checking with some calipers before buying replacements.
Any KMC or Wippermann will be fine for the chain. Expensive SS/FG ones don't do anything different and are basically a waste of money. I'd go for 3/32 as youre not using it on a track so you don't need to borrow rear cogs or anything like that. So Wippermann 7Z1 or KMC z610. I'm happy with my KMC - much quieter than my Izumi.
Also if you're short of cash, why not buy less expensive parts?
Novatech hubs will do exactly the same thing Phils will do. Halo have cheap deep rims. Personally I'd go for velocity A23's as they're a reasonable weight, come in non-machined sidewalls, and lots of drillings, and there are reviews out there for people who've used them for cx - so theyll be strong enough.
If you're heavy go for 32/36h. ACI spokes from cyclebasket are well priced, and probably do everything any other spoke will do utill you get to the top end (or something uber strong like dt swiss alpine iii). Build yourself in a using your frame - track wheels in a track frame is easy.
Also why not convert a road crank? A second hand DA road crank will be cheaper and easier and will do everything a DA track crank does, but at a fraction of the cost... what are DA track cranks now? £200? I'd go for something like the SRAM S300. Much better value for money, comes with a BB (external as well), and chainrings.

Yep standard British threading and russian headset. Headset is in good nick so no problem and I serviced it recently with new bearings and grease.
Im pretty set on a nice set of silver phils 36h. laced to any decent deep wheel, 40mm + so just waiting for the right set to crop up in the classifieds.
As for the cranks, I found some sg75s in my drawer so will be using those

So after deciding not to sell my XB3 Record frameset I decided to get around to stripping it and starting to build it up as my first true sled.
First of all needed to strip the frame, however this was a bit more of a task then I was expecting. Has nitromors got weaker? After applying it thickly most of the paint remained. Looks like 30 years of life has made it eerrr quite stuck down. I gave up. Release the power tools........
I am loving the mix between half stripped still bubbling paint with raw metal tubes, rust and the gold brazing splattered around.
Also this frame is tough, and seriously tough. which is good as it won't get dented and I weight 90kg.
