The only way to measure the break drop is to put a wheel on and measure from centre of brake clamp bolt hole to centre of the wheel rim. A vernier guage is handy for this. As for wheel size, I'm not familiar with your bike/frame, if a 700c fits use it. A 27" wheel will be about 1/4" wider in diameter.

If you can accurately measure the distance between where the axle would be and the brake mount surely you could work out brake drop on the two rim sizes?

Yeah, just tried it again, and I'm getting about 50mm. That probably does make sense now that I think about it. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Hi all,
I have a Gazelle AB frame which I'm looking for a wheelset for. My question is, how do I know 1) what size wheels I need, and 2) how big my brake drop is going to be after I add them?
Doing some rough measurements by intuition, I got a 50mm break drop if I add 700c wheels, which doesn't sound right to me. That being said, my measurements were very rough and imprecise.
Any and all tips welcome.
edit: I should probably also mention that the widths are 100 front and 126 back, and that I'm building it to be a single speed (preferably with a flip/flop), just in case anyone has any offers.
