50mm! That is short!! Shortest I have is a 3t 70mm

Yeah well the top tube on this frame is ridiculously long, so a ridiculously short stem may be what it needs! I tried an 80mm but it wasn't short enough, hopefully 50mm will do it, otherwise I'll have to sell up.

anyone got a short(ish) one with 26.0 or 26.4 clamp?

Velosolo have some nice zenith ones that come in 60mm.

I've got an old GB stem with conical wedge expander that is 50mm length (actual outward projection is 45mm c-c)The bar clamp is a bit out of round and there's a few dings & dents plus the original bolt is missing (though one is present)
If anyone might need something like this I'll do it for £5 posted -

sounds a bit knackered, my friend who i bought this bike off is quite particular that I should keep the parts on it nice as he built it up to the period, he also happens to be my boss so it's good to keep him happy! Thanks anyway, I think timmy2wheels' one should do.

what model holdsworth? if you've got cinelli bars the clamp size is 26.4mm.....

No idea on the model, it's had a respray and i'm taking his word for it that it's a holdsworth anyway, although I'm sure someone on here could tell me given the frame number and a pic. The bars are some old raleigh ones, so perhaps it's not as original as all that.

post some pictures up in the "identify thread" - the forks should have a serial number stamped onto the steerer being a holdsworth.
if you make it tomorrow - we can compare! -

Yeah that's a good idea; I was planning on riding my fixie in morning as the holdsworth requires some work but I think it has enough life for a ten mile jaunt.

thanks for all the offers everybody; I have one coming in the post now, if it doesn't work out and I think it's still worth going shorter (50mm) I'll let you know.

Hi, I have a holdsworth frame which is too big for me, and I'm hoping that a shorter reach stem can help before I am forced to sell it. It currently has something close to 100mm, does anybody have anything <60mm? Shorter the better really. MUST be silver, and I would prefer something circa 1970's, as the rest of the frame is built to that vintage. Also I may require postage as I'm in Cambridge.
Cheers!
