whats that front brake in the tutorial pictures?

i just got a headache reading that, wrapping tape takes me long enough already, that would drive me nuts.

I think once you read through it makes sense. This sums it up pretty well:
both tapes are simply wrapped around the bar in opposite directions with no overlap. In this way, each color is laid in an over/under alternating weave
Christ knows how you do the three-way variant though

Basically the bars are wrapped twice, once by each colour with each colour going in opposite directions. You just have to alternate which one is on top at any point.

I really like the cotton and shellac look but I know it'd look stupid on my modern build. Maybe I can convince my girlfriend to let me have a go at it on her bianchi...

Tried using the search...this isn't really bike porn, there's a decent thread on tips for wrapping, this thread is for the art.
We all know how a lovely build will look wrong with a bad wrap, wrong colour, bare bars or butchered Ourys on the tops of track drops.
I pulled off what seems to be a decent wrap with some Fizik Microtex soft touch and I have to say it was one of the most satisfying parts of the build. Especially as was the first time I'd wrapped drop bars using gel pads and it is a part of the bike you are in constant interaction with.
Next step when I get the opportunity: learn the harlequin!
But also barwrappornworthy IMO:
Feel free to post your own efforts!
