Hah, their drivers are terrible- always parked in the ASL on their mobiles.

Their vehicles are nice and noticable, so stick in the mind- for all the wrong reasons generally as they merrily ignore traffic regs.

I wouldn't feel so bad stickering them, but as a group we've got to conduct ourselves in the best possible way, or we'll damage any headway we'll make with this situation.

Problem is, I'm not sure how to get the message across in the same way!

I used Hailo twice yesterday, got talking to the driver about AL. Funnily, he didn't really focus on the bus lane issue, but was right behind the cyclists, and thought that AL had really shot themselves in the foot with those comments.

But his best comment was "and you definitely don't want to mess with cyclists". So at least one black cab driver (and a very pleasant guy he was too), has a lot of respect for cyclists.

Also talked to him about Hailo, he said since he started using it, he hardly ever puts his for-hire light on any more, he just gets job after job, and there is no bullshit, as all the customers can be identified (if there are any issues). I imagine the PHV companies have been losing a lot of custom to black cabs, now that Hailo is there. So that might explain why AL are so keen to have equal conditions on the road.

My only concern about Hailo's success is that if every black cab starts doing it, there will hardly be any on the streets available for hire.

I'm sure it's been done, but just in case, can someone compile a list of alternative taxi providers so people wanting to boycott AL have other companies to call / options

I don't understand. So AL is evil and black cab drivers are lovely and a cab company that call themselves like a stand on a farmers' markets is the choice of the day. Jeez.
