Great to read that Tao rode very well at the Volta a la comunitat Valenciana. He was third on GC because he came third on the queen stage.
Apparently, he hadn't even targeted the race.
On the same:
Tao pulling the peloton for 'G' in the final climb of today's Tirreno Adriatico stage.
Currently 22nd in the Giro at 3mins 14seconds off the lead. That's half a minute ahead of Simon Yates.
Hoping that Ineos put some weight behind Tao for the GC rather than switching into "stage hunting" mode straight away. Unlikely I know, but would be great to see. Just got 80/1 on him for the overall... He seems such a lovely chap- how happy he was at Ganna's win makes me think that the team will work for him willingly later in the race.
Stage win today!
Go @taogeogheganhart congrats on your stage win.. impressive stuff.
Just watched the last 15 km of todays stage after ignoring all news about it all day, WOW that was exciting.
Fantastic ride by Tao, he timed the final dash perfectly, and the instant he made his final dig I was up out of my chair shouting GO ON SON! Just brilliant, super pleased for him.
Some Olympic standard gurning by the pink jersey today too.
Completely lost my shit over here. Well done Tao!!
Amazing. Just fantastic. So looking forward to the next week - if Ineos look after him like they were planning to do with G, will be amazing. If this comes off, I'm having a Custom Ti frame with Tao's name all over it and the rest as a donation to the Forum;
Beppe Martinelli (Astana DS and Pantani's DS for many years) thinks Tao looks the strongest rider in the race and could win this.
So you are in good company.
1s off a podium rn !
Good luck. I had Wiggo to win the TDF before the start in 2012, nothing like those odds though!
Go Tao! Hope you're reading this. We're all behind you [like most of the race].
tao g - h G - C
He looked mad focussed coming over the line
I was out so only saw the highlights. Mad props!
6.3 w/kg for 40 minutes = zoinks Scooby
