-
• #6
this thread is going to be like a competition to see who can post your updates to Anti Porn quickest
-
• #7
Put thatg zipp disc on it!
-

+1 on switching the ourys.
Also I think a slightly wider bar would allow you to move the brakes and shifters into a much more comfortable position.
Ideally if you could find a pair like the 3t Eryx in a 25.4mm, that have the rise closer to the stem, that would give you rise and the space.

• #9
but then it will look just like a hybrid with a colorful frame.
keep ourys. -
• #10
Of course it won't. It'll just be more comfortable to ride.
I'd chose cut down v-strong's as they'd fit with the skinny tubing.
-
• #11
I will probably be the first to put it in anti porn but who cares haha
unless you buy me some strong v's ourys will stay
this is a budget build. -
• #12
Done.
I have some spare white ones.
Where are you based.
-
• #13
Lol, how stupid it is to say this is gonna be anti. Really like the idea :)

notting hill or barnes
if i dont put them on...can I have them anyway?
its gonna contrast quite bad with the black saddle -
• #15
Are you going for road or MTB drivetrain?
-
• #16
I've seen Moser, Gios and Casati frames ridden about Italian towns dripping with inappropriate (but practical) kit. I've always thought they were pretty cool because riding a Benotto to get milk, or having Record on the beater kinda implies they're so saturated with classy historical cycling that they don't even notice.
This isn't like this. This is just gash.

Best of luck though.

...and no they won't.
You areI am referencing the classic styling combo of black saddle/white bar tape.http://velospace.org/files/merckx_molteni.jpg
... I also recon that you should strip and polish the risers.
ps sorry for the constant intervention. It is your build.
If you want the grips (for this build) drop me a pm.

road drivetrain, need a 3 piece groupset as cheap as but still pretty good quality
8 speedIs that going to be compatible with thumb shifters? I saw Tester mentioning some issues the other day with front derailleurs, but that might just be with 9 speed plus groups.

Instead of this madness, you could simply get some P-clips, attach a nice-looking tubus rack, retain the look without killing what is a lovely frame, get a nice period groupset (retrobike..) and have some practicality to it.
Just sayin'..

@tommmmmmmmmmm
im gonna try and make it work, but i might just keep it to a single ring up front@heythropbikepolosoc
well tubus racks are nice but expensive, im trying to use what I have. I know im killing the frame but I dont really want to sell it nor can I afford to build it up with lovely campag components and a shamal wheelset. So for now I think this gonna have to continue its path, but slowly ill give it the parts it deserves. Besides I've got a bike already which is built up properly! -

There was a full groupset here for pennies.. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=181424
any rack will do! I'm sure you could pick one up for around less than 20 quid on here. -

Man, I wish I had £220 to spend right now!!
I think my best bet is to buy a complete bike on the ebay for pennies instead.

So decided to build my first geared bike from pretty much scratch. After being inspired by that geared motorola merckx lo pro with I have decided to pursue making my own in time for when my school term starts.
Here is what I've done so far taking this frame
Columbus brain tubed OS Strada
and these wheels
and add a dash of risers, cross top bars, wald basket, trigger shifters you get this so far
Haters gonna hate, but this is gonna be one hell of a fun and fast commute.
Might give it the shamal treatment if I can find a matching rear to my front cough George Sportif cough
To buy list:
8 speed rear derrailleur
2 speed front derraileur
Crankset
and im sorted!
oh and for the record, I have drop bars and stis for this but want to try something a bit different and practical
