  • What time are people turning up on Sunday

  • Just had a look at the route - we'll be heading up Brownlow Mews, WC1. I worked along there once, and David Bailey's studio is there too for anyone interested. Look out for an elegant, tall Italian woman walking a tiny 'statement' dog - assuming he's still with her.

  • Wow, that really is a wiggly route through the east end and again through bermsy and rovrive. The only hills that trouble me are Canonbie and Eliot Bank. I've never cycled up the latter - doesn't it end in a potholed unmetalled road at the top by the posh rehab place?

  • Anyone care to get that route into a GPS sort of format?

  • I will be bringing a ton of stuff for the jumble.. including old pair of sidi 5s (size 45), tons of road tyres, i reckon they still have some life left in them.. all proceeds to go to the Eveline Children's Hospital.. a give away even if it raises a couple of quid

    A x

  • Rastafari greetings folks,
Well there are two days to go. We'll get a slight dip in the weather, but the sun always shines on the riders of Team LFGSS.
See you out on the course and at the Gipsy Hill Tavern.
Please remember to bring your donations, bike jumble and please buy a raffle ticket - you could be winning the fantastic frame and other great prizes.
    Peace and Love to all,
    JAH tim

  • Excited!

  • Same here - and completely incapable of deciding whether to ride the Pogliaghi (gears may make the CanonbieBerg less painful, but the aged Cinelli bar and stem click and creak and I worry about them snapping) or the Kona (OS stem and bars, but only one gear, dynamo light, mudguards and the like).

  • Canobie is steep, but short. Better that moment of pain than 40 miles of clicks and creaks, especially with pave.

  • You're right there. The route gives us a gentle run-up before the crest of Canonbie, so the pain may be brief and may see me reverting to a 24" gear for a few yards.

  • I haz drawn route for GPS... [ame]http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1039413[/ame

  • Ok, I don't know why I did this as I'm not even riding this year as I'll be training for Good Friday instead, but I was bored and did you all a map taken from the cue sheet. I had to guess at a couple of minor turns that seem to be missing from the sheet but it's accurate for the most part. There's an option to download a file for you GPS types too.

I haven't double checked it so I accept no responsibility if I get any of you lost, but I will be at the Gypsy Hill tavern in the afternoon to watch the Tour of Flanders if you really must insist on finding me and punching me in the chops.

    Enjoy.

  • Ha ha, snap!

  • :) beat you to it...

  • is there an lfgss meet up time and location?

  • Start/registration point is Gipsy Hill Tavern and organisers prefer people to go round in smallish (think single rather than double figures) to avoid hassles.

I'm going for an early-ish start I think to make most of sunday roads and more pub time afterwards. I owe you a pint Kev! See you in the pub afterwards?

There's a bit of difference between your two routes in the last bit. It would almost seem as if Soul had missed out a hill. :)

  • Maybe, but Soul's route is right - straight over the mini-roundabout after Eliot Bank onto Sydenham Hill.

The only hills that trouble me are Canonbie and Eliot Bank. I've never cycled up the latter - doesn't it end in a potholed unmetalled road?

    Yep.

I got worried and thought I'd added an extra one for a second... Edit - Oh, I did, what a dick.

  • Ha. :)

  • ^^ I wouldn't beat yourself up about it, route mapping can be a tricky business.

    That accusation hurts...

    Phew... :)

  • LFGSS / Flanders crew meetup at the junction of Belvedere Road and Gypsy Hill at 10am? Leave at 10:15am or so.

  • It is a bit back from the Tavern in case there is a large group there
