Decided to build a bike for the girlfriends 21st, went and picked this up today, cosmetically it's not very good but everything is strong and pretty tight considering! I live NW london, wembley way and I'll be looking around for a decent shot blast / powder coater, chroming specialist.
Any info on the bike would be great.
It looks like a Raleigh Dawn Tourist, but the fork crown is not the Raleigh type so maybe it's one of the subsidiary marques such as Triumph or Hercules.
You would see little Sir Walter Raleighs and "RI" stamped into things like the brakes and cranks if it was a Raleigh.
The chainwheel may also give you a clue as back then were often heavily branded.
There may be a serial number on the seat tube.
It'll be stripped down and cleaned up within the next week so i'll have a look around, want to try and get it off to the paint shop by the end of next week!
