I've joined posting as spenceey on there too. Look forward to seeing peoples weekend rides, do you guys put everything on there or just certain rides?
I put all 'road' miles on there. It's just a good way of keeping a ride diary for me.

I stick everything on garmin connect but this is good for the social aspect.
-
• #229
Connect doesn't have weekly/monthly mileage/elevation/hours does it?
I use it for mapping.

Not as much as Strava no.

• #231
Not as much meaning 'No' ?
:-)

i've been sticking everything on it. it's an awesome site, it's a good app, and they have a good team of developers that respond to emails etc. i asked them to let you stick fixed gear ratios on there (cos i'm getting a bit obsessed with it now my knee's better) so the power figures were more accurate etc and they're probably going to do it.

I like that idea, then strava can automatically add cadence for fixed riding
-
• #234
I had some really nice averages on Strava as I was uploading everything I did, then I got a telephone that could not run Strava, and it has all gone wrong.

I put everything on Garmin Connect and Strava. Strava's more fun, but it feels like it might not be around forever, so I'd like my rides in two places just in case.

yep, and you could see that 6pt was beating carbon tt bike riders round regents park on his 68:10 gear ratio!

I'm quite enjoying it actually. Bit peeved that my DD file from last year won't upload.
Also working on getting my weekly average of miles up. Now my knee is on the mend I'd like that to be much higher.

• #238
I'll reiterate what 6pt said, if you upload your commute everyday, put it on private!
Why? Cos people will point and laugh at you (me?)

Because having an unnamed 5 mile zig zag across london pop up on everyone's activity logs twice a day is fucking annoying.
-
• #240
purple_mj's mega commutes and 200mile epics excluded, of course.
-
• #241
It's the equivalent of tweeting 'going for a shit'. 'just come back from having a shit'. I mean you could, but do you really have to?

Gotcha....also read through what will and won't get posted.
And anyway my commute is more like 9 miles ; )
-
• #243
My commute is 40 miles will that piss people off? I'd consider it a bit more of a small commute - I don't live in London though!!
-
• #244
is fucking annoying.
For that reason.. I'm in.
-
• #245
I've got no idea how to stop it happening, as I (will be once again) using Strava on an iPhone, which uploads at the end of the ride.
-
• #246
I don't look at Strava enough to care, and it's your own account, do what you want.
All of my uploaded rides have names, because each one is a 'thing' instead of day to day riding. They are shared and [probably not] looked at, so no harm in putting some effort in.
The boring shit and number crunching doesn't even see the internet in my case, it just sits on my pc in super-clunky garmin training centre.

• #247
Are you complaining about people using a service that tracks cycling mileage to track their cycling mileage? I don't put my commute on private and I won't. Bite me.
;)
-
• #248
I will call all of my commutes "Look" in your honour 6pt.
-
• #249
anyway, it might be called a 'commute' because it gets me to work and back, but it's a ride from start to finish like any other, and it's the best damn bit of the day. fuck. [violin]
