It's an audio receiver/tree fall issue.

Does bear poo in the woods have an odour if there's nobody there to smell it?

can someone explain to me whether / how some / all garmin devices can feed ride data to strava?
don't know if i've really got the right end of the stick with this.

there's a plugin that allows the strava website look for an attached garmin on your pc, if it finds one it lists the activities on the device and you choose which ones to upload.

https://garminconnectsync-vermaas.rhcloud.com/
I use this with my 510. phone uploads to garmin connect then this automatically syncs to srava.
seems strava processed everything differently as there are elevation and distance variations.

I just be that dick. I don't get chance to go on any fun rides these days anyway, so there's nothing to see if you strip out all my cat6 rides.

There's a "Commute" function for just that. Just check the box before you upload (if using the mobile app, or edit the ride settings straight after.
Anyway, there is already a strava thread >>>>>>>>>>

I thought the Commute button does nothing

^This
My commutes are 75% of my rides on strava. Easy to distinguish too due to the bikes used. All stats add up and rides shown on other people's feeds.
Be that dick. It's not like you're recording your 3mile sprint to work.

Is there something like strava but without the segments? A friend of mine is getting very tentatively in to cycling and would like a smartphone app that records where she's been and how fast etc, but she finds the idea of segments etc a bit intimidating.

there is plenty, I think IpBike does that.

In other cat6 news, I was quite pleased with

endomondo?

If she's on Android, she can use mytracks, which is by google and should be installed already(?), otherwise Endomondo, runkeeper should both work fine
