Would anyone be interested in doing a big fixed gear group ride of the coast to coast in the summer?
I want to do some sort of camping trip on my bike and thought that this might be cool. its like 150 miles but you can do it over 4 days and its about 40 miles a day and i think that's not too much. some of the hills would be a bugger but I want to have something to train towards.
My dad did it in 3 on his MTB. Pretty tough going some of the time, but worth it. Although he's in his 50's, lol
I'm unfit, but I'd like to do it sometime.
Sure there'd be someone who'd ride it!
Sounds interesting, if i wasnt looking at applying for the forces this year then i'd be up for it, just dont want to commit to anything incase it clashes with anything to do with the forces
Aye. I just want to do some cycling in the summer or atleast when it starts to get nice.
Long bike rides like to redcar or something would be cool.
I've (somewhat stupidly) agreed to attempt it in a day, probably next month depending on the weather, with a couple of other guys from Manchester. No idea how we're going to pull it off. 3-4 days in the summer sounds a lot more fun! Hope you find a few people to do it!
Some advice for you chaps, me and a mate did the coast to coast FIXED + BRAKELESS (cos its cool). We did it in two days and absolutely destroyed ourselves. If you guys are doing it fixed then I THOUROUGHLY recommend you have a brake (or take one in your bag) resisting pedals and skidzzzz hurt after all the nasty hills. I also insist that you run a low gearing say 68-70 gear inches. On a lighter note to enjoy the summer weather you should pack some sun cream and some form of lubricant (for that chapped saddle groin) :)
I would be interested. Could turn it into some sort of charity fund raiser?
