That^ makes a lot more sense than the install instructions that came with the cordz.

If I don't post this afternoon, I did it wrong.

It's 2pm, you did it wrong.

Those callipers look like they'll be a pleasure to clean...
-
• #280
Probably going to be a pain, true.
I never got to ride it today- but I got a lot of plumbing done.
In any case, I've taken some awful photographs to celebrate the bar tape now looking slightly less like it was applied by a drunk, blind epileptic whilst having a grand mal seizure.

I don't appear to be able to focus the camera- my apologies.

6.61kg as pictured, with computer.

reckon compressed air would help keep it clean?

I think you've done an excellent job with this.

We had a SystemSix in the bunch today.
Whilst following it I thought it had nice aero seatstays.
I have other cool stories.

+1.
one of my favourite threads on the forum, shows how much love you've put into the bike. -

What're the calipers?

EE cycleworks.

They're gorgeous!

indeed they are.

Looking really good. Definitely up there as my favourite forum build along with smallfurry's bmc*.
In the interests of keeping it a project, I think you should replace the front silver EE for a black one tho.
*(but carried out in a much more timely manner)

Looks sweet.
Going by the photo the brake cable looks fine to me. How are you finding the cages? Mine stick sometimes.
Could'nt find a decent pic of my powercordz. But under that bolt, is a mushed up knot of plastic coating and fibers. The brakes work better than any rim brake, I've ever used.

• #293
Dammit, what brakes are you using? I know you said before but i forgot

I've got a job interview on Tuesday, so have taken the day off- I'll try to get out on the System Six in the afternoon to test how everything hangs together.
I've done a lot of miles over winter on this- on the turbo.
So the braking system is pretty much a complete unknown- it works in the stand is all I can say!
This would not be so much of an issue if I did not live on the top of a 14% hill.
Only one way of finding out if those Cordz work I suppose, and at least I'll find out quickly.

Sorry, but pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft!
My driveway is more than 14%, and around 40m long. I need 34:25 just to get up it. This is the view from my living room window (more or less)

I'm a big fan of those brakes also, this thread is making want to get them for my new steed.

I'm doing a HotA recce today if that interests you? Should also be picking up that frame for you...

Took the bike out for it's shakedown ride (after all the winter modifications) yesterday afternoon.
It's fast.
Initially the SRM did not work as my ghetto magnet solution (vide: magnet+electrical tape/spoke) did not get close enough to the sensor, but a quick trip to Brixton Cycles produced a proper magnet and the Power Control V woke up.
The Power Cordz just work- I was extremely wary at first, but they just get on with the job- including an emergency stop when a massive, massive cunt in a Dulwich Van Hire transit drew parallel and then pulled in, almost squashing me between his van and the curb on Dulwich Road.
Thanks van man.
Things to do- the front mech is still being annoying- even with zero tension on the cable and the limit screw backed right off it does not seem to come in enough to clear the inner chainring. Not sure what to do about this- the later Six/Super Six actually has a cut out in the seat tube to allow the mech to come in further.
I may test fit a Di2 front mech to see if it clears...

Thats what the clamps are for. You should be able to gauge where the knot should be on the cable. Then knot the cable around the bolt with it totally detached. Then screw it in.
My front mech cable looks proper buggered. But the fibers are OK. The coating is designed to be crushed, to allow clamping directly on to the fibres.
