It's not an official Shimano product- it's something made from RC Helicopter batteries.
I charged it at the beginning of the year and it's still got 80% charge, so clearly these RC helicopters are greedy little buggers.

that sounds interesting; what did it cost? Official Shimano upgrade costs a lot because you have to change the junction box and battery.

~£10

I've also got the Ultegra one for the Oak, which cost 144 Euro, plus the junction box, plus the additional cables, plus the charger etc.
7970 stuff is a lot cheaper in some ways.

The frame is pretty ancient, maybe it's the carbon unbonding from the Ti

Well at least that's not technically a crack 'n' fail.. they're improving.

That would be unfortunate. I'm going to see Scherrit tomorrow, I'll ask his opinion.
However, whilst I love the way this bike rides the noise is seriously annoying me now.

You may jest, but, back in the mists of time, I had a Trek 2100 which was aluminium with three carbon main tubes bonded in. I had a mystery click that I just couldn't locate and it turned out it was the bonding giving up the ghost. To their credit, Trek replaced the frame and forks, 3 years after I bought it.

In click related news- it's cured!
Thanks to Scherrit.
Also thanks to the six hours I spent with Scherrit today I have a pair of Rotundo Ltd 44 c-c handlebars for sale, one careful owner, low mileage etc etc.
I put them on the bike earlier this year, but I need to go back to something like the Ergosum according to Mr Bike Whisperer.
