    Details here:

    Items:

    • A dresser from Tokyo (cherry) - dibsed by a colleague, collection Monday morning

    • An old chest of drawers - dibsed by skive, collection Saturday at 9am

    • A desk from Kyoto - dibsed by a colleague, collection Monday morning

    • A coat/hat stand from Habitat - disbsed by photoben, collection over weekend

    • A recycled teak bookcase from Osaka - dibsed by a colleague, collection Monday morning

    • The cube bookcase from a design shop in Osaka but only MDF - dibsed by bodieanddoyle, collection Saturday 9am

We would love to sell these items to people who want them and will appreciate them, but the reality is that we need to cancel our storage unit to be able to feed ourselves next year. Not paying for storage is a bigger win than just making a quick buck.

So... these are items are free to the first person who can commit to collecting them (on a weekend, from the storage place in Richmond). We would deeply appreciate a PayPal donation to LFGSS in return, but it isn't required.

If you're interested in anything, just say.

  • no access to page.

  • Try now :)

  • I would like an old chest of drawers, but can't collect on the weekend. However can do anytime from Mon to Thurs next week. Will it fit in the boot of a fiat 500 or a golf?

  • dave - does a normal chair get under that table?

    if so - dibs.

  • Can you make the coat stand smaller?
Could be interested in that and cube bookcase. is the place open on a Sunday?

Could do Mon-Thur if able to confirm time it's a morning thing (enabling me to get to work still).

Unlikely to fit into a small car, it's a big chest of drawers (as most old ones are).

The desk is low, but yes.

The coat stand is a coat stand, that's how big they are.

Yes, the storage is open on Sunday, but only morning to early afternoon.

  • How wide are both the chest of drawers and the cube bookcase?

  • The chest of drawers is about two cube bookcases in width.

We clearly failed to get good info, like dimensions. Anything not dibsed by the weekend will see us go back to storage and gather up dimensions of everything.

  • i'll give you a bell tonight, dk

  • Sorry, I meant can it be dissmantled, this didn't come across at all in what I said up there^!

  • The coat/hat stand can be flat packed to roughly 60% of the height. Should fit into a small car, on the back seat.

  • In that case, dibs the cubes and the chest of drawers depending on sizes...

  • Marked the cube as being yours, won't mark the chest of drawers until you're 100% sure... but that does risk someone else grabbing them.

  • There is a story to the furniture btw, and it's a heart-breaking one. Some of the furniture was inherited by Felicity when her mother died, and shipped to Japan. When Felicity moved back, we shipped it back but live in too small a flat to accomodate the furniture. Because it includes items that were owned by her mother and link back to living in Japan, they have high sentimental value. So we've paid for storage at £250 per month for over 2 years now hoping to have moved by now. We haven't moved, and we cannot pay to keep the storage. So all of the furniture must go. It's the hardest thing, as we cannot possibly keep hold of it, and selling it to strangers breaks her heart.

We really want people to take some care of this stuff.

It may not be the finest exquisite pieces, but it has history, it has meaning, it's travelled the world, and we just want them to go to a good home.

Anyone who takes the furniture of our hands is really helping us, but at the same time, if anyone is cynical enough to take something free for the sole purpose of wanting to make a quick buck by selling it themselves, then be warned I'm quite likely to get physically violent and break your face in.

Not to say that anyone intends to... but I just want to state it's not going to be wise to consider it.

  • Massively want that old bookcase but I have no car :( anyone able to help out I could repay in beer?

  • The big old bookcase is definitely more van material.

  • Marked the cube as being yours, won't mark the chest of drawers until you're 100% sure... but that does risk someone else grabbing them.

When can I measure them? Apologies for being so specific, but they're to fit in a particular gap we have in the flat.

  • Anyone who tries to punt any of this lot on is a saucy cunt who deserves to be banished...

Storage is only open 8am-6pm Mon-Fri, and I work quite far away... so it will have to be Saturday morning first thing (from 9am).
