  • Ex-demo machine, so the paint is scratched a fair bit, and unfortunately lack of space meant that it was stored on the balcony so the nuts, bolts and chain show rust spots.

This is the 8-speed internal hub version of the classic Moulton separable frame.

Includes everything you would expect according to this spec: http://www.foldingbikes.co.uk/moulton_tsr_8.htm

However... there is no saddle. The stock saddle was a travesty so when we used the bike we were swapping the saddle from our main bike onto it, and then swapping it back. That's basically what led us to stop riding it... too much hassle to put the saddle on every time, and we never got around to buying a saddle.

    So... needs saddle.

This bike new would be £1,200. It is second hand with rusty bolts though, and whilst the frame and fork are in great condition I would feel bad for asking more than £350.

I want a quickish sale as I'm paying off debt prior to being broke... I'd accept £300.

Happy to deliver anywhere within the M25.

  • Bloody hell that is bargainous.

  • Balls - I really want this...

  • Hey I'll take it David, if you think it would fit my lanky 6' 3" legs?

I'm 6'1 and have ridden it. You'd need to re-cable I suspect as whilst the frame, seat post and stem could all accomodate, the default cable length wouldn't give you enough length to raise the front up enough.

So... yes if you re-cable, as it is now... no.

  • FFuuuuuuu i want this so much! Im trying to justify it

  • Same here. Its almost rude not to buy it at that price. The fact I don't need it is neither here nor there.

The bottom line is that I do not have the space.

  • I have plenty of space. Just store it round at mine.

  • If he doesn't have it I will.

  • Defo DOUBLE DIBS

  • deffo dibs if senor bear doesnt want it!

  • Sorry David, thought it was a folding bike. I'm out.

  • Yes!

    It's mine then!!!

  • Good work Mr Oso.

  • if it falls through let me know - definitely keen to have this if the bear doesnt

  • I'll buy it off the Bear when he decides he doesn't want it. In a year or so.

  • I don't even keep bikes for a year these days what with breaking them

  • bear - if you decide that you hate it, hit me up and i will jump for joy almost definitely take it off you

  • if it falls through let me know - definitely keen to have this if the bear doesnt

    Looks like your dibs.

Senor Bear thought it was the other Moulton I used to own, a burgundy TSR30.

This one is a well-used TSR 8, the one with the internal geared hub. Perfect for a quality beater/commuter.

  • david,

sorry to be a pain but am going to un-dibs - just won a dawes kingpin off ebay so thats probably going to be my small-wheel ride of choice.

    good luck with the sale

  • If this is still here by the time I'm back from hols then I'll be all over it like a certain premier league footballer would be with a pension queue.

  • Out of interest how did you find the SA 8 speed?

  • Out of interest how did you find the SA 8 speed?

Good, but not as wide a range as desired as we rode up Ventoux on it and then down the Nesque Gorges road.

Lacking a full granny gear for the ascent, lacking a stupidly high gear for the descent. To be expected really.

That said, we actually felt that the suspension helped a hell of a lot on the descent (bad road surface), and that the small wheels helped a hell of a lot on the climb (less energy required to turn a small wheel than a large wheel, and you believe you feel it on Ventoux).

The frames on these things are great.

  • Photos of current condition... that is indeed a rusty chain.

No pedals or saddle, rusty chain and a few bolts. Fundamentally good condition for the frame, forks, etc.

For low cost it would be a good beater, and if you want to go the whole hog and strip, spray, bling then it's a bargain Moulton separable frame.
