• Here we have a nice old Road/Path (track) bike, unknown make but definitely British, my guess mid 50's or 60's... Something like a Claud Butler Olympic Sprint or Holdsworth Takes 27" wheels. (I think) Or 700c with a different brake.

£200 ONO for everything listed below
£172 for frame, forks, headset, bb, chainset, pedals, stem, bars.
£188 as above including brake lever and brake

    Lot's of pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/57765867@N04/6253828017/

It was a bit of a project of mine but I've just admitted to myself it's too big..

    Frame
99% sure it's Reynolds 531 steel -(nice and light)
    24" Seat tube (ctt)
    22 3/4" Top Tube (ctc)
120 mm rear spacing Track Ends with mudguard eyes.
Completely straight and true with no dings or dents or rust
Round section track forks, quite ornate crown
Ropey paint job - More touch up than original paint! - but looks nice from a few feet away.

    Comes with:
Weinmann alloy stem, engraved GB alloy bars new Tressorex cloth tape
    Stronglight headset (needs servicing)
Nice Dia-Compe front brake and lever with pads in good condition. (needs cable)
TA Cotterless Chainset (3/32) teeth in great condition, cranks - ok
Bayliss' Wiley bottom bracket (serviceable but needs bit of attention)
    Nice domed alloy seatpost
Old Brooks saddle (maybe B17 Champion Narrow) Very Well used but still rideable.. just!
Lyotard 49d Pedals with Christophe clips and nylon straps (pictured separately), needs bolts.

    Wheels
It does come with wheels but you'll probably want new ones..:
Unknown rims. I'm a bit confused because I think they're 27" but the rims look like tubulars as they have no inner ridge, therefore the tyres don't fit on very well and bulge out.. Strange as I thought tubular tyres only came in 700c or smaller..
Anyhow the tyres are pretty shot though I did buy a new inner tube.
    Gnutti small flange hubs.
Rear is flip flop with a 5 speed freewheel attached on one side and a new 16 tooth fixed sprocket.
Ok spokes on the rear, front are rusty - get some new nice 27" track wheels here:
    http://singlespeedcomponents.co.uk/wheels.html

A chain is also included but I didn't fit it as I'd just cleaned the chainset. Good chainline.
I will also throw in a Campagnolo Valentino rear mech, old campag single shifter and GB Sprite rear brake for if you want gears or single speed.

Pick up only N16 - Viewing welcome. Unlike some others I like dibs, please also include a pm!

  • Not sure if overcharging? Let me know

  • undercharging i think

  • ^ maybe but would be happy with the 225.. To answer a couple of questions; seatpost is 26.4 / 26.6 slightly tricky to measure. In any case very similar size to a Claud Butler Olympic Sprint path bike I had years ago.

Regards splitting (an interest in the f&f) yes if takers in the other parts

  • possible dibs other parts pmd

  • ^ignore sorry

  • I can't see any writing on the rims but just been informed by Ben that they might be Dunlop Special Lightweight rims that have no discernible 'lip' and therefore the tyres are just plain old..

  • It looks like Claud Butler Olympic Path, to me. Don't know the year...

  • ^ Reckon you're probz right, forgot to mention it has an oil port under the bottom bracket shell, plus frame number if anyone's interested..

  • useless piece of info= George Berreta in the Kenton Cycling Club (and quite some age now) was the importer for Gnutti after WW2. Yes, he was Beretta tubs too.

He used to drive to Italy in an ex Army truck and pick the stuff up.

He's also famous for turning down being the sole importer for Campag !!!! What a mistake to make in life........

  • ^ whatta mistaka t' maka!

Cheers El Diablo and Lucifer, are there any other forces of darkness with interesting knowledge/history to share? ;)

Regarding a pm; frame forks, headset, bb, stem, bars, chainset and pedals for £180, plus front brake and lever: £195

  • price drop - see original posting

  • another (small) price drop

  • slight price drop to justify this bump..

  • Going 'baywards soonish if no interest - If you like the frame, make me an offer!
