Are they plastic? Just break the remains out with a suitable breaking-out tool.

Try tapping the remains that are stuck in with a flat ( not a screwdriver) punch you may well get them to undo.
This one is subject to the socket wall thickness.
Grind walls of socket away until it will go in. -

normal 15mm sockets from a kit won't fit (unless you are lucky) only shallow wall sockets. Crank pullers often come with one. 15/13mm shallow socket job.

Babeh Monkeh needs a new crankbolt

So the other day I removed my crankbolt caps from my bike to take the cranks off, fairly routine stuff. However the tops of the caps came away leaving the sides stuck in the threads, meaning I cannot fit a 15mm socket into the crank to remove it. Has anyone got any ideas, as to how I can solve this?
I was thinking maybe take a round file and go around until it fits, but I dont want to damage the crank anymore than necessary.
