Single speed chain tensioners; which one?

Hey i have just changed my 8 speed Bianchi to a single spped but i am using the rear derailer as a chain tensioner. i was wondering should i get a chain tensioner instead to lose weight and for it to look better or to stick with the working derailer just in case the tensioners are a rubbish idea; and then if i go for a chain tensioner has anyone got any suggestions which one?
