  • prole, you have PM.

  • Some more info here and here.

  • lovely, part from the trees

  • I like it a lot, though maybe less variety in the plant life (on the longer side) would tie it together better.
    Here's a shop in Montreal:

  • Yep, a sad loss and a brilliant mind.

  • Eye-popping that the Foxtons founder can afford Kensington Palace Gardens.

I'd rather they dug underground than have more Candy & Candy monstrosities like 1 Hyde Park, which last I read was an address they had no right to claim. It's popular to bash the rich, which in a lot of cases is predicated on envy - the elderly residents' war zone comparison comes from a nose put out of joint.

A recent episode of Grand Designs followed a banker and his wife digging underground in Holland Park - end result was fabulous.

  • The only thing it light.

    Artificial just ain't cricket.

Jon Hunt sold Foxtons in 2007 for around £380million, but still retained the rights to the Marbella and Manhattan offices - I believe Manhattan has now gone wonky. He's also rumoured to rent the rights to use the name "Foxtons" to the company which now owns it, BC Partners.

I'm not really surprised that he's purchased in "Billionaire's Row" and I can guarantee he's probably nearly doubled that £380million already.

  • He's had that house for quite some time I believe. His is not the most interesting property on the street. Mittal has been trying to buy at least another 3 properties to give to his children. There is one property (next to the Russian ambassador's house?) that's occupied by tenants from Camelot.

    #luckyfuckers

  • Love those basements and I'm surprised that more people haven't done the same before now. Even if you were adding an extension to a house wouldn't it make sense to incorporate a basement? It doesn't have to be fancy just somewhere to store bikes.

  • "To the Bat-cave Robin!"

I like riding down that street on a Boris Bike, try get some air over those speed bumps, especially when you have an audience of the security guards and the cops at the Israeli Embassy.

  • The people in those stories moaning about the mess of the place whilst the work is being carried out. Bloody hell. Have they never had renovations done on their house?

  • What road is it by the way?

  • Kensington Palace Gardens.

  • Thanks - no street view though. Just wanted to be nosey really.

  • Considering it's billionaires and embassies only, that doesn't surprise me. It's a lovely street to cycle on. Hardly any traffic and lots of nice trees.

  • I work in Victoria and I find all those nearby billionaire streets to be unsettlingly soulless. Seems likes lot of people have a serious problem of not knowing where to put all their money - there's a financial crisis on and a lot of investments are risky, so they just pour it all into a house. I don't think living there would be particularly pleasant.

  • ^ Like Belgravia? It wouldn't be so bad if all those pretty little gardens were open to the public but it all belongs to owners of the surrounding houses. Who are probably too important or wouldn't be seen dead on a nice little bench tucked out of the way. Yah.

  • Can someone remind who did this / where it is? I know this project / seen it several before and keep forgetting about it.

    Superb!

    ^ This caught my thoughts.

  • Leme house, Sao Paulo by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, possibly.

  • reminds me a little of House With Balls by Matharoo.

Also, I didn't realise how many beautiful houses Studio Mumbai have done:
    eg. http://www.studiomumbai.com/tara_house_images.html
