NFTs in the news again
I watched that auction real-time. Crazy times.
Just watching that story on BBC news. New clothes for the Emperor? Who knows.
Nfts are to me what Crypto is to my parents.
Or tik tok.
can we mint NFTs for Scoble's posts on here?
Haven't they wasted enough energy already?
His Youtube channel is fcukin brutal, but if you throw enough shite at the wall eventually it'll stick thats what all these channels seems to be doing right now
His theory that models are useless if something can potentially destroy the entire playing field was interesting. Sounded a little like 'just believe' too. The metaphor of Vegas was pretty cool, interesting vid to someone who knows nothing of this stuff!
Some probing into the fragility and basic lack of credibility of their implementation here.
"Cryptocurrency will prevent fraud!", people keep telling me. Meanwhile, people are creating and selling NFTs without the original artist's permission on a platform which may just fall apart and leave the buyers empty handed.
Pretty thorough and damning critique of cryptoart/NFTs (and crypto) here.
I see your Medium post and I raise you Chuck Tingle.
Looking at the first few pages are classic! has anyone here held their coins for that long? @hippy 10k of bitcoin 10 years ago.. daayum i hope you made some profit on that
Unfortunately I didn't have 10k of coins back then but I have still "made some money" on what I do have. It'll probably vanish at some point, like most of my "investments".
page 2 people complaining about £100 price and it's dramatic rise from £60
Mad reading those first pages. Arbenz is millionaire now?
Too busy driving his lambo to worry about bikes anymore
mikec bought £200 worth at $8 on page 1, that’s about £1m today
mikec wouldn't just drive the lambo
He taught me how to buy them back in 2013 I think.
I subsequently spent them all.
Dont worry we all did.
Piece on energy use of bitcoin and NFT: https://twitter.com/Sparkes/status/1376806304380039169
I'm working on a consultancy piece (for a company) on how best to steer Bitcoin away from energy guzzling proof of work at the moment. Sounds like pissing in the wind I'm sure but this is a little different...people are actually stumping up big money to try to influence a change. We're at 9 figures and counting so far in terms of budget. It feels that the tide of public opinion is beginning to make the crypto community take action.
