There's some coming soon made by TRP that have the hydraulic cylinder on the caliper itself, and is cable actuated...

Could be interesting.

Some SRAM sponsored CX riders have been using prototype Red hydraulic DoubleTaps.

how is it so easy to have hydro mountain bike brakes and not cx
-
• #1983
I'd imagine it's due to the complicated pull mechanisms for both the brake and the gearing that are combined into one lever, vs separate brake/gear levers on most MTB's.

I think it's mostly that you have to find space for all the gubbins inside what is the main handle of a modern road bike. MTBs shove it all in boxes inboard of the entirely separate grip area.

And it definitely looks like their attempts to lump all the gubbins together compromise pornworthiness:

I am looking forward to seeing the hydro Di2 levers

Crikey!

It seems like problems that shouldn't exist in 2013. We can literally build elements by shooting atoms together but we can not incorporate two functions in one handle. It's embarrassing. Also, I'm sorry for bringing up hydraulics at all, let's talk Pompino's again.

Or Pompetamines. The thread title should include Pompetamines as well.

A short run of cable to a converter box seems to be the sensible option but current solutions are far from graceful IMO.

are cable discs the standard for cx
-
• #1994
At the moment, there are 3 kinds of brake for CX, with selection based on personal preference and course conditions. In no particular order; cables discs, wide cantilevers and mini-V brakes.

115mm bottom bracket sorted the crank-chainstay comings together.
All done now, bar brakes and cabling. I'll try and get it nice and muddy tomorrow afternoon and take a picture while it's still light.

Did the brakes arrive on time?

Tommmmmmmmmmmm do you want to borrow my Hope V-Twin?
I may not end up using it for my new bike (ordered those BR-CX75's), and I've just bought brand new Hope pads for the V-Twin as I am a thicko.

They didn't come on Saturday, but neither did two special Saturday deliveries that my colleagues were expecting, I think the postman gave himself the weekend off. So I'll let you live for now...
-
• #1999
Ta. I'll go back and petrol bomb the post office woman to make up for it.

That's really kind of you but hopefully by the time I've finished school tomorrow morning my brakes should have arrived at work. Just need to breklez down to the station and try and fit them and I should be good to go while it's still light.

They are rare so command a higher price than regular flat bar hydro levers.
Shimano use mineral oil so don't know if it'll be possible to create a shimano/magura hybrid system. Sram/Avid use Dot but having experienced Juicies it'd take a heck of a lot to convince me to put their offering near my bike.
