Shimano one is nice but my choice is the Tektro tool, compact and yeah works well enough.

Can anyone recommend a hose kit for Sram Force 1 shifters/ calipers? (older verison, not AXS) Best to stick with Sram or is there a more wallet friendly option?
thanks

I need some advice on disc brake pads please. Got my first disc brakes bike recently and thought I'd better stock up on some pads but I'm not sure what to buy. The brakes are Tektro MD-C550 and their website says the pads are "Overall balanced resin pads". The bike gets used on 50% road and 50% dirt paths/gravel.
Can anyone recommend what I should buy? -

I'd recommend sintered pads - a mix of resin and metallic in a single compound - as they'll last longer if used off road in grotty conditions than purely resin - or organic - compounds.

Shimano B05S.
As to that^
Sintered are metallic and resin are organic. Generally resin are suitable for most things and probably fine for you unless you're doing a lot of gritty mud based CX or MTB stuff, they're quieter, work better cold with more initial bite, but wear more quickly, especially in mud, and have less overall power. -

I stand corrected, I thought sintered was semi-metallic, i.e. the mixed compound.

Sintering is the process, they're probably mixed materials to some degree and some brands make an in between compound, there are ceramic and Kevlar compounds too, but generally, if you can use B05S pads then they're cheap, work well and are sold pretty much everywhere, so a good first place to start, and probably stay.

Thanks all.
The rotors are Giant MPH 160mm but I can't see that it specifies resin only or not on their site. It is this Contend AR . I'll try the B05s and see how they go. -

I'll say given the caliper and rotor pairing, it'll be resin only, too basic to be sintered compatible.
Search of Giant MPH 160mm confirms it's entry level rotors.

They'll be reet with sintered, it's only really the entry level Shimano I've seen that state resin only, and sintered eat those, but every other cheapo rotor I've seen is fine with sintered, if not super round or flat or strong.

Just fitted some new brakes and shifters using the jkit direct system thing from shimano. Really impressed how it insulates an idiot like me from most mistakes.

+1 they have really thought a lot about how to make it as easy as possible to install. I hadn't realised it was a thing until I bought a new groupset last year and it just worked excellently.
